We are doing a book rotation on Sunday, March 16, in all three categories (child, teen, grownup books). If you’d like to add books, they can be put in the bins under the bench, any open space in the little libraries themselves or placed on the owners porch.

Keep in mind the property is *very* well covered by 12 security cameras for child and property safety reasons. If you find any issues or spot anything suspicious, please contact the owner of the property. As stated on rhe little library signs, being on the property is at your own discretion and risk.

Parents: bear in mind that you are responsible for what your child selects and reads. This little library *does not* ban books (other than adult reading material), including religious and cultural texts. Thanks.

Today, a soldier in the military (in Bastrop, Texas), posted this to a Free Little Library group on FB. No, I will not black out the name of the person as they made it a public post. Most likely, it was posted to get attention (narcissism is rampant these days). However, it is important to let everyone know - especially as a free little library owner - our libraries are *still* private property. What this person *claims he did is also a crime: vandalism and theft. While still a misdemeoner, it is punishable by law. We at Mother Goose don’t censor our books, whether theological/religious or LGBTQ+ friendly or whatever. This particular book that was trashed is LGBTQ+ friendly, but I’ve seen people do this with Bibles, Pagan books, etc. I’ve even heard of LFL’s censoring the older Little House on the Prairie and Mark Twain books because of content. We do not believe in deleting (or canceling - we hate that word) historical writings. We **only** censor p**n (yes, we check the libraries on our property because, shocker!, there are some sick and vile people out there that have indeed dropped p**n at other libraries). In a free country, and as 2 veteran’s who served and fought for our country’s freedom, we encourage people to be respectful of each other’s beliefs and of their person. As citizens, we don’t have to agree to just love with a JUST love. That’s true American patriotism, that’s true humanity. Tolerance is a virtue, and ignorance is a sin, kids. Be blessed and have a blessed day❣️>stepping off soapbox 😝<
FYI: parents, do YOUR due diligence when your child picks out a book and brings it home. That’s *your* responsibility. If you find it inappropriate for the way you choose to raise your child, we simply ask you be respectful and bring the book back and not ignorant and throw it away. Have some pride in yourself as a human being.

MOTHER GOOSE IS WAITING FOR YOU AND THE LITTLES! 👵🪿. Older section of Meadowvale

Our books are sorted and new ones are waiting to be read! Don’t forget there are books in the bins beneath the bench and in bins in front of each little library! Feel free to take as many you’d like! We have plenty to rotate for about 2 months and then we will start fresh. If you open any of the bins PLEASE remember to close the lids *tight*. We lost a total of 17 books because someone didn’t. If you’d like to donate books, please place on the *desk* on our front porch.
📕📚📗📖📘📚📙
Also, our community food bins have been reduced from 4 to 2 as we are about to start putting up fresh garden veggies for you to grab!!! We will post here and on our local Buy Nothing group when we add to it!
🥕🥬🥒🍆🍅🫑🥔

🥫🥫🥫🥫 Non-perishable food items can be placed in the bins on the bottom of the cart. Please be sure it is not expired 🫥. Non-perishables are for *EVERYONE* to share. We’ve had folks stop by rather than running to the grocery store, so it truly is an *entire community* food cart and not for any particular group of people. Whatever is left over at the end of each month goes to either St. Patrick’s RCC food pantry or to the Aberdeen restore food pantry. ❤️‍🩹📦⛪️🏢📦❤️‍🩹

As always, thanks for being patrons of this cause for our Havre de Grace community!🤗💓🤗

PS: We had someone stop by and ask if they can take pictures of the little library. ABSOLUTELY, as long as you are not photographing people that are not yours.
📹📹📹 Remember, we have 3 cameras trained on the garden at all times, uploaded to the cloud for future reference if needed. We keep the reading garden safe for our kiddo’s. It takes a village!

We’re going to do a book clean out on Sunday (May 19) and start the week with a lot of “new” books in the library for kids, teens and adults. We’ll post a picture when done so you get an idea of what’s in the bins! Remember, we keep books in the bench in plastic totes, and we keep plastic totes beside the little libraries filled up for you to peruse! Find a book, take a book, read a book, love a book, keep a book, gift a book!

Also, we have the community food bin setup next to the reading garden. Feel free to give or take whatever you want (right now it’s quite empty!). Whatever is leftover the end of the month gets gifted to either the Aberdeen Restore or St Patrick’s food pantry. Thanks!!

The Mother Goose Reading Garden & Little Library has cycled through books and new ones are out, including what appears to be the entire “Babysitters Club” in the kids red roof library and a lot of new grown up/older teen books in the blue roof library. There are more books in bins under the bench as well as bins on each side of the bench. We’re located in the older section of Meadowvale.

We are out of nonnperishables, so feel free to donate by placing them in the community food cart bins (marked bins). Give when you, take what you need! At the end of the month we donate to St Patrick’s and the Aberdeen Restore so we always have something fresh and new but ca. only do that with your help! We honestly can’t wait to fill the cart with fresh veggies from our garden!

And, while we are working on “Mom’s Carousal Garden” over the next couple of weeks, please feel free to walk straight back on the side of our property and take a look (it’s visible and lit up at night, so the kiddos will love it!). You can also come over to our canoe and inground ponds and enjoy the koi and gold fish (please watch your footing and your kids as we are still cementing in the rocks). Don’t mind our fur children, as they have their own yard and can be very boisterous, but they are hardly dangerous (just to be safe, please do not pet them unless we are present. The little black furred Pug Chihuahua can be temperamental even with us).

Remember, if you enter the property, take and/or leave books or take nonperishables it is at your own risk and we do not accept any responsibility for any crazy crazy wackadoodles while you visit us. Please be respectful and remember the property does have 24/7 video surveillance throughout. ~ Tom, Glenn, Blanche, Candi & little tyrant. I mean Gypsi. 😝

We are doing a book rotation on Wednesday (tomorrow) if anyone wants to come grab some books now! Also, for anyone who wants, there is food in the community bins in the blue cart by the reading garden. Take a peak and see if there is anything you want. Bring a bag! We are planning on adding a couple of more library cabinets come spring, depending on funds from my art studio (which sponsors the reading garden).

We’re located in the older section of Meadowvale.

(If you have books or non-perishable food you wouls like to donate, please set them on the front porch desk and we will get them. We are still undecorating from Christmas, so please excuse the mess🤦🏻‍♂️).

Come by and see us during the Holiday season and take in the lights! Our neighbors have done a great job on their houses, too, and our end of the street is well lit! Grab a couple of books while you’re here or pickup/drop off food donation to help through the Holidays❣️

The Mother Goose Little Library Reading Garden is now open! We are considering adding two more little libraries to the garden in spring if we can find someone to build them so they are deeper and accept larger books for children.

PLEASE READ THIS PINNED POST IN ITS ENTIRETY. Thanks!

We are a community Little Library, located in Havre de Grace. All books are always free. Take a book, read a book, love a book, share a book, keep a book❣️

We do accept books for kids, teens and grownups, which can be set in the labeled libraries, in bins under the bench or on the front porch (please ring bell so we know they are there). Donations are the only way we can keep the library full, so please donate when you can! We try and circulate books weekly.

*Disclaimer: Parents must supervise children on the permanent riding toys. All those entering property agree to take full responsibility for themselves and their actions, those of any child in their care. Responsibility includes book selection and using any item(s) on the property. If one cannot agree to this disclaimer, please do not enter the property. Disclaimer is posted at the little library site as well. Thank you, and please enjoy our Mother Goose Little Library Reading Garden❣️ It is truly a labor of love for our community and our little city of Havre de Grace.
