This morning’s Dawn and Ed show was a huge success! We exercised, played wheel of fortune, had an appearance from Elvis, learned from Ed how to make amazing scrambled eggs (pro tip: he adds adobo!), did some word searches, and had a dance party! High energy for a Monday! 😀
Happy Monday morning and a special thank you to our brave and caring direct support professionals. You guys truly inspire us!
Happy birthday to Miss Jen, who has spent two decades making The Harford Center a wonderful place to be! You’re one of the most caring people we’ve ever met, and we appreciate you so much! Happy birthday! 🎂
It’s been a good week 😀
Yesterday’s staff meeting 😀
As you all know, the Governor lifted the stay at home order and replaced it with a “safer at home” protocol. Based on the Governor’s Executive Order, he is reopening retail facilities at 50% capacity and allowing for other “quality of life” businesses and organizations to reopen with strict guidelines. However, the no more than 10-gathering remains in place, as does the social distancing and requirement for wearing a mask. To that end, the Harford Center will continue to operate as we have. We have been providing excellent and meaningful service to individuals in their homes and to participants who live with their families. Additionally, we have utilized the building on a very limited basis (no more than 10 in the building at a time, with masks, and provisions for social distancing). Further, we are ensuring that the building is disinfected daily. Additionally, we have secured adequate personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, disinfectant) and plan to have a sufficient amount on hand as we expand our services and capacity. As we are in Phase one of Maryland’s Road to Recovery https://governor.maryland.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/MD_Strong.pdf ), we will not be reopening the Center at this time. It is not anticipated that we completely reopen until phase three along with schools and other large-gathering type organizations (schools, nursing homes, etc.). As this pandemic is a new phenomenon, I am leaning heavily on guidance from the Governor’s office, the Health Department, the CDC, and feedback from stakeholders (families, individuals, staff, colleagues). I understand that these are uncertain times, and I wish that I could clearly lay out the upcoming weeks. However, I can continue to update you, answer your questions, and let you know when/if we have to change course. I encourage all of you to read the Governor’s plan, so that we can all work together toward Maryland’s recovery.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I wish you all the best. Please stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Special Thank You to Harford Mutual for donating $3,000 to the Harford Center on this #GivingTuesday! Harford Mutual always offers so much support for our mission and we are extremely grateful to have a community partner we can rely on in these uncertain times. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
A meeting of the minds!
Happy belated birthday to Gillian, who does so much to make the Harford Center great. You’re the best! We appreciate you!
Always take time to smell the flowers.... especially if they match your shirt perfectly!
#GivingTuesday is here and we need your help more than ever. This pandemic has been especially hard on Harford Center families who rely on us for structure, skill building, and social activities. We can’t support everyone in person under these difficult circumstances. Our greatest need is for Ipads so that our staff can “visit” the rest of the people we support and their families. Please help us provide comfort and care to some of Harford County’s most vulnerable residents. Please donate to the Harford Center if you are able:
