Roads are not good. I only have to look outside to tell you that. Stay home unless you absolutely have to be out. If you call for EMERGENCY SERVICES such as an Ambulance. Be prepared for us not to be there in our normal time frame. Meaning: it will take us considerable more time to get there due to the roads.
Our primary units have a chain system on them to assist in these conditions. We will get there. Everyone stay warm and safe. Check on your neighbors and family periodically this weekend.

Public safety agency friends. Please see the flyer below and come out and visit us for a demo on 8/30/2024. The demo will begin at 1300. This is the newest tool in the toolbox for Hancock County. We were able to secure this CRD Deployable thru the Ky 911 Services Board Grant. We would love to have the agencies here to visit and learn more about this awesome piece of infrastructure!!

A huge shout out to the fine folks at GN Excavating & Trucking Corp. they have played a crucial part in getting our new radio infrastructure project moving forward. Last week they made a trek down to Jackson, TN and hauled some of our new equipment up. This week they completed the delivery to 5 of our radio sites and got them in place for our vendor to come soon and complete the next phase. Hancock County Emergency Services values the partnership with them. No matter the time of day we can always count on Gary and the crew for what ever need arises.

Just off a call with the NWS Louisville.
As of right now - the timing for the ice event (see slide below) is expected to start the change from rain to freezing rain about 6 am.

There are always variables, so don't get up set if it is earlier to the west or later to the east. And still expecting 1/4" - 1/2" of ice over the time period of 12 hours.

Above all - unless it is an absolute necessity - stay off the roads; vehicles will slide and people can fall & hurt themselves.

Let's be safe!
