Northwell Health Expands into Pennsylvania with New Primary and
Immediate Care Center
New Dingmans Ferry location marks health systemâs first entry into the state, bringing convenient care to Pike County
DINGMANS FERRY, PA â Northwell Health celebrated its expansion into a new state with the opening of its first practice in Pennsylvania. A ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Dec. 15 marked the launch of the Northwell Health Physician Partners Primary and Immediate Care Center in Dingmans Ferry, increasing access to an area with limited medical resources. "Entering Pennsylvania is a new chapter for Northwell," said John DâAngelo, MD, president and CEO of Northwell Health. "This new center is a direct investment in the health of the Pike County community, driven by our belief that the best healthcare is local. We are eager to bring our clinical expertise and patient-centered services to Dingmans Ferry, and we are committed to working alongside residents to listen to their needs and become a reliable healthcare resource for their families and hopefully bring a fresh and unique health care experience to Pennsylvania."
Slated to see its first patients in January, the new 2,800-square-foot office, located at 116 Atlantic Ave., offers residents access to both primary care for ongoing health management and immediate care services for urgent, non-life-threatening conditions.
âWe are pleased to welcome Northwell Health to the county and have established a positive partnership over the past several years working together to improve access to health care services for Pike County residents and visitors,â said Ronald Schmalzle, Pike County commissioner vice-chairman.
âAs new neighbors in Dingmans Ferry, weâre not just opening facilities â weâre building relationships and expanding access,â said Kevin Beiner, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Northwell Health. âWeâre working with local leaders and residents to meet evolving needs, and weâre committed to delivering worldâclass, patientâcentered care with seamless connections across Northwellâs network. Our promise is to be a trusted partner in improving health outcomes for this growing community.â
A health hub for Pennsylvaniaâs fastestâgrowing county
Northwellâs entry into the state was a strategic move, with Pike County chosen as the entry point due to its rapid growth and its deep ties to the New York-New Jersey metro area. This connection provided a natural gateway for the health system to meet rising healthcare demand. The regionâs momentum also offered a unique opportunity: to build a modern, patient-centered healthcare model from the ground up, allowing Northwell to grow with the community and establish a foundation of proactive wellness and integrated care.
Leading the clinical strategy for this initiative is Brahim Ardolic, MD, executive vice president and president of Northwellâs Metro Market. With a personal mission and experience in increasing localized health services, Dr. Ardolic looks to bring this same strategy to this effort.
âThe blueprint for a healthier community was clear from our work on Staten Island,â he said. âWhen you bring world-class care directly to the people, you remove travel as a barrier and transform lives. We are bringing that exact same model to Pike County. This center is our first investment in that promise, delivering vital primary and immediate care without the long drive.â
Medical efforts for the region are being led by Theodore Strange, MD, regional physician executive, Staten Island at Northwell Health, with Michael A. Mandarano, DO, serving as site physician at Dingmans Ferry.
A well-established physician in northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Mandarano is a board-certified specialist in both internal medicine and pediatrics, bringing more than a decade of experience to the community. His expertise includes managing chronic conditions such as hypertension, sleep apnea and obesity, allowing him to provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages.
The opening in Dingmans Ferry is the first phase of Northwellâs entry into the region. The health system also announced that a second practice is scheduled to open in Hawley, PA, in the summer of 2026, with plans to expand its service offerings based on community need and local demand.
These centers will provide a crucial local access point for residents, connecting them to Northwell's broader, integrated system of care when needed.
