📢 REMINDER: TOMORROW IS STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL DAY! 🌪️
As part of Minnesota Severe Weather Awareness Week (April 13–17, 2026),
Clay County will participate in two statewide tornado drills tomorrow, Thursday, April 16.
Outdoor warning sirens will sound throughout all Clay County communities at:
• 1:45 PM: For schools, businesses, and institutions to practice their daytime sheltering plans.
• 6:45 PM: For families and second-shift workers to practice their plans at home.
Please note:
• It’s only a drill: If you hear sirens at these specific times, do not panic.
• Outdoor Warning Only: Remember that sirens are designed to warn people outdoors to seek shelter and more information; they are not intended to be heard inside every building.
• Take Action: Use this opportunity to find your "safe spot" and check your emergency kits.
Stay safe and stay weather-aware, Clay County! âś…

Today, Minnesota had our 3rd grain bin entrapment of 2026.
This makes us the current national leader of bin entrapments.
Not a great badge of honor to have.
I have statistics going back over 10 years and this is the highest amount of entrapments we have had this early in the year.
Not to mention that the most entrapments happen in June & July in Minnesota. Were not even close to the "busy" season.

PLEASE help spread the word!
1. Do not go in bins with the unloading equipment running!
2. Have someone watch over you when you are in the bin. Family, friends, or even neighbors will be glad to help make sure you are safe in the bin. All you have to do is ask!

Dont just like this post. Share it on your page so that more people get the message!

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, “Charge into Fire Safety™,” focuses on the safe use of lithium-ion batteries, a growing cause of fires.

Follow these key steps to reduce risk:
• Buy only certified products
• Charge devices with approved chargers on hard surfaces and avoid overcharging
• Recycle batteries properly — not using a trash or regular recycling bin. Instead, find a safe location at call2recyle.org

Participate in Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11, and support your community by spreading awareness. Learn more at fpw.org.
