This training was presented and taught by Operation Lifesaver a non-profit organization through the Federal Railway Administration (part of the USDOT).
The training consisted of rail safety, locomotive safety/operation, and rail car types. All of which was focused on first responder’s forcing entry, securing the train, working with Hazardous Materials, and coordinating with the engineers and conductors about the cargo.

Locally heavy rainfall possible late tonight through Monday night. Minor urban/poor drainage flooding is the main concern, but local flash flooding along with flashier river and stream rises possible, especially in S CT.
A severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out in the evening with damaging wind gusts in excess of 58 mph, mainly from the NYC metro on NW.
Gale conditions are expected on all waters with minor beach erosion possible.

A HUGE thank you to all of our Hawthorne First Responders and DPW workers who were out all night and this morning cleaning the streets and sidewalks and responding to emergencies. We understand this storm was difficult and it was a constant game of “catch up”.
Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
Thank you to our residents who moved vehicles and gave us patience during this battle with Mother Nature. She put up a fight but we conquered!
