Our Mission
Our mission is to provide an effective, well-balanced educational program that works with and through families and community to support children’s learning and development. We offer many programs that address our students’ basic needs, allowing them to develop to their maximum capabilities, and become contributing citizens in our ever-changing society. Ramona School’s staff is committ
ed to building a team effort among families, district, and the community’s diverse students to achieve academically and socially in an ever-changing world. In the area of curriculum, the goal is that all students will be provided a challenging, well-balanced curriculum, using a variety of instructional strategies to prepare them for participating in a changing global society. Students will be assessed on their skills and knowledge. Facilities will be equipped to enhance and support teaching, learning, and enrollment growth. Ramona uses technology as a tool to enhance learning, maximize achievement and increase productivity. Our school offers the opportunity for all students in the Hawthorne community to become fluent and literate in two of the world’s most widely spoken languages. Our distinguished Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Program (TWBI) provides an immersion model for English-speaking students and a bilingual model for Spanish-speaking students. It is an additive bilingual program, meaning that all students learn a second language without compromising their first. Students in the TWBI program gain self-esteem and an appreciation that fosters cultural exchange and celebrates diversity.
