🚧 Railroad Crossing Closures Beginning Monday, August 10, 2026 🚧

Please be advised that scheduled railroad crossing work will begin on Monday, August 10, 2026, affecting the SR 20 on-ramp and off-ramp near the overpass in Hawthorne.

During the construction period:

β€’ SE 221st Street beneath the overpass will remain open throughout the railroad crossing closures.

β€’ Motorists traveling southbound on US Highway 301 toward Gainesville will not be able to turn onto SR 20 until the first railroad crossing project is completed. This work is anticipated to be completed by August 15, 2026.

β€’ Motorists traveling eastbound on SR 20 from Gainesville will not be able to exit onto US Highway 301 while the second railroad crossing is under construction. This phase is expected to begin August 15, 2026, immediately following completion of the first crossing, and is anticipated to be completed on August 22 or August 23, 2026.

Electronic message boards have already been placed along US Highway 301 to notify motorists of the upcoming closures.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes if necessary.
