By collecting unwanted furniture, we engage businesses in the process of contributing to a greener environment while giving former foster youth opportunity at a fair shot at life. Corporate Sponsors
By sponsoring home creations businesses give back to the community while providing employees a rewarding team building experience

. Individual Volunteers
Our warehouse is where the donated furnishings are receive, stored, and sorted ready to be delivered to home creations for youth. By giving us a helping hand in the warehouse volunteers enable us to get to more youth on our waitlist. Individual Donors
The needs of each youth we serve are different and unique. We strive to provide each youth and every home creation everything that is needed for their specific circumstances. By donating money, individual donors fund specific needs for items (refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, etc) that we don’t regularly receive from our corporate partners. High Schools and Middle Schools
The best way to teach the next generation of leaders the values of kindness and generosity is by having them practice these acts. By organizing drives to collect smaller home essentials, high schools and middle school students, educate their community while enhancing school spirit. Students sponsor home creations providing their groups a rewarding team building experience while supporting a life changing milestone for their peers who would otherwise be fending for themselves. Former Foster Youth Paying It Forward
Youth who receive a home creation pay-it-forward by partaking as volunteers to create homes for other youth. Transformed by their own experience their shining example as a volunteer reveals the best version of themselves, and inspires their peers to become architects of their own destiny.

In the aftermath of disaster, community emerges. 💙🏠

When the incredible team at California Insurance Guarantee Association showed up at our Disaster Recovery Operations in El Monte to volunteer, they helped us do what we do best: transform empty spaces into fully furnished homes where fire survivors can finally rest and rebuild.

Thank you, CIGA, for showing up and helping create an ecosystem of support for our community. 🙏

Dolly Parton: A Legacy of Kindness 💙

Dolly Parton left behind a legacy through her unwavering belief that people need to be better to each other and her tireless commitment to proving it through action.

At A Sense of Home, we feel a deep connection to the values Dolly lived by. “If you’ve been blessed and you’re in a position to help and you see that there’s a need, you should do it.” That belief is at the heart of everything we do, every home we create, every volunteer who shows up, every donor who gives.

That is the community we try to build every single day — one act of kindness at a time, one home at a time.

In her honor, Dolly’s family has asked that fans make donations to her Imagination Library. The Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books to millions of children around the world.

Thank you, Dolly, for showing us that kindness is a choice we make every day and for choosing it, every single time. Your light will live on in every act of generosity you inspired. 🕊️

We are so grateful to Selection One for continuing to be our top home decor donor and wall art sponsor. 🖼️💙

The team joined us to volunteer at their fourth home creation recently, and their dedication to design and care was truly inspirational. Year after year, Selection One donates thousands of decor pieces across both of our programs, helping us personalize every home we furnish with intention and creating a personal touch for every recipient.

Thank you, Selection One team. Your generosity and commitment to our mission continue to inspire us. We couldn’t do this without you. 💙

“Another incredible International Interior Design Association (IIDA) SoCal chapter Design Challenge for the books! 🏡✨

Thank you, IIDA Southern California Chapter, Integrated Design Firm, Teknion California, and Office Furniture Group, for leading another amazing Design Challenge in support of our recipient, Anthony. The moment Anthony walked in, he was in complete awe and disbelief. And now, he has a dedicated creative space to record his music and podcasts and create a future he can thrive in. These aren’t just furnishings; they’re the foundation for his dreams to take shape.

From collecting donations to curating artwork that inspires, to thoughtfully designing and fully installing his home, their creativity, leadership, and commitment transformed an empty space into one rooted in dignity, style, and belonging.

Through their ongoing support, IIDA SoCal has become a vital partner in our mission to create homes filled with dignity, style, and belonging. Year after year, they show up with not only furniture and design expertise, but with genuine care for the young people we serve. 💙

Thank you, IIDA SoCal, for showing what it truly means to design with heart. And welcome home, Anthony! 🏠✨

Home is just the beginning. 💙

Beyond furnishing first homes, we are committed to supporting our members through every chapter of their lives — including parenthood.

Our Parent Support Group is an inclusive, welcoming space created exclusively for A Sense of Home members who are parents or expecting parents. It provides a safe environment where members can build community, share experiences, and receive encouragement from others who understand the unique journey of parenting.

Each monthly gathering is facilitated by experienced professionals and features discussions centered on parenting, child development, emotional wellness, self-care, and navigating resources that support family stability. Members also have the opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and learn from one another in a judgment-free setting.

And the impact speaks for itself:

“The first Parent Support Group session was truly amazing... I never thought I would find such a strong sense of connection, and it gave me a much better understanding of what other parents are going through.”— Veronica Martinez

More than just a support group, this is a community where our members feel seen, supported, and empowered — with the reminder that they do not have to navigate parenthood alone. 💙

Happy Birthday, Melissa Goddard 💙🎉

Today, we celebrate the incredible woman who, alongside Georgie Smith dreamed up A Sense of Home over 11 years ago and has been pouring her heart, energy, and light into this mission every single day since.

Melissa Goddard not only co-founded an organization — she created a movement rooted in belonging, dignity, and the radical belief that everyone deserves a home. You’ve held our community through every challenge, celebrated every milestone, and shown up with unwavering commitment to the young people and families we serve.

Thank you, Melissa, for almost 12 years of dedication! From your ASOH family, we are wishing you a birthday filled with as much joy, laughter, and light as you bring to the world.💙

The Long Road Home: Marlene’s Story 💙🏠

Marlene has been living in West Altadena for 31 years. Her home was more than a house — it was her sanctuary, her community, her life. After losing her home in the Eaton fires, Marlene now lives in an Airstream trailer parked on her empty, cleared lot with her mother and beloved dog.

Like many survivors, Marlene is facing a massive gap between what she has lost and what she can recover.

ASOH is still working hard to provide essential furniture and home goods for our neighbors affected by the fires. Right now, your support is critical to help us meet the needs of the community. Any donation amount you give will help create homes and an ongoing community of care for displaced individuals and families. 💙

Our Annual Summer Celebration isn’t just an event — it’s a reunion that reminds us of why we do this work, and a chance for our ASOH family to come together, celebrate each other, and honor the beautiful community we’ve built. And who best to share what this event means than our alumni from over the years:
🫶 Jerrika — Home Creation June 2022
🫶 Valencia — Warehouse Home Creation June 2021
🫶 Moises — Home Creation October 2022
🫶 Kristen — Home Creation April 2024

This is what community is all about. It’s showing up year after year, reconnecting with the people who’ve walked this journey with you, and knowing you’re part of a mission that allows everyone to feel a sense of home.

Thank you to every sponsor, volunteer, partner, and PIFA who made this celebration possible. And thank you to our incredible recipients for reminding us what it’s all about. 💛

See you next year! 🏠💙
