Decorate Your Porch
The Golden Porch is an award like no other. The Holy Grail from Monty Python is a good comparison, but it really has the size and refined taste of the lamp from A Christmas Story. (We can’t show it here just to keep up the mystery and intrigue that it deserves.)

One lucky business or homeowner will have the distinction of having the Golden Porch for a year, at which time it will pass to the next year’s winner. It should be proudly displayed for special occasions, or in the storefront as appropriate. At no time should the Golden Porch appear on the sharing table at the transfer station. If it is lost, stolen, burned in a fire, runover by a tractor, or otherwise damaged, the recipient will be required to create a new Golden Porch award for the following year’s Porchfest.

As a starting point, we have 100 Chinese lanterns to decorate downtown homes and businesses. Reach out by email if you need some. [email protected]

Streamers, drapes, fairies, plants, etc. are all fair game. Just decorate your porch and post a picture on facebook. The Golden Porch will be awarded following Porchfest.

This year for Porchfest, we don't want to just have music on the porches, we want you to dress up your porches as well. This is my sister's porch in another part of the state. One day each year everyone decorates their porches with Chinese lanterns. They are colorful, inexpensive and fun. Come up with your own ideas. We have an award for the best porch - "The Gold Porch Award" This is truly a one of a kind trophy that the home owner can proudly display for the following year. It's almost done, so there will be a reveal once it is ready. In the meantime, if you have a porch in the downtown area, please start decorating - you have 1 month to get ready.
