According to the CDC, monitoring your blood pressure is an important step in maintaining good health. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, which is why regular checks are so important.

Making healthy lifestyle changes can help keep your blood pressure at a healthy level. These changes may include getting regular physical activity, avoiding smoking, eating nutritious foods, and maintaining a healthy weight.

During National Safe Boating Week, remember: the best life jacket is the one you wear. Safety advocates recommend that all boaters and passengers wear a life jacket at all times while on the water. Accidents can happen in seconds, leaving little time to put on a stowed jacket.

Life jackets, or Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), save lives — but only if they are properly fitted, maintained, and worn correctly. Always check the manufacturer’s label to ensure the jacket is approved for your activity, weight, and size.

Wear it every time you’re on the water. It could save your life.

Parents today are more pressed for time than any other generation. Smartphones help us stay connected and make life easier — but too much screen time can get in the way of meaningful parent-child interaction. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, too much tech and too little talk may delay communication skill development in young children.

Did you know that 80% of a child’s brain development happens by age 3?

Speech and language development is strongly connected to thinking skills, social relationships, reading, writing, and school success. These skills grow through everyday verbal and nonverbal interactions with parents and caregivers.

3 simple screen-free ways to support your child’s communication skills:
• Play together
• Share a common focus (like reading a book)
• Practice “serve and return” interactions through eye contact, facial expressions, and conversation

Sometimes the smallest moments of connection make the biggest impact. 💛
