We are doing some cool things right now!

Our new Type 6 E-3162 has been on assignment with the USFS for IA (Initial Attack) for 3 weeks staffing 3 people.

Water Tender 3141 is also currently staffing for OES Pre-Positioning for IA with a Trinity County Task Force made up of Engines from Hyampom Volunteer Fire Department, Weaverville Fire Department, Douglas City Volunteer Fire Department, and Kettenpom Zenia Volunteer Fire Dept.

We are expecting lightning today and our OES Pre-Positioning Task Force is crucial to IA on any potential new starts within our county.

We have an active vegetation fire in the area of Landacre Rd. At this time there are multiple responding agencies as well as aircraft on scene. We will update with pertinent info as it comes in.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT

We are in yet another Red Flag Warning. Our neighboring counties have had an increase in fire behavior. We strongly encourage members of our community to be FIRE SAFE!

Summary:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Affected Area:
Interior Humboldt County, Trinity County, and southwestern Siskiyou County.

Thunderstorms:
Isolated dry thunderstorms tonight into Monday afternoon. Confidence is highest tonight but some activity may continue into the afternoon.

Outflow Winds:
Gusty and erratic outflow winds of up to 30 mph is possible.

Impacts:
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

FINAL UPDATE: Hyampom Rd is open. The battery has been properly contained and the incident is concluded.

Huge thank you to everyone for their patience! Thank you to Northern Delights for providing ice cold water for all of our responders.

Due to a battery fire releasing potentially toxic fumes, Hyampom Rd is closed from Highway 3 to Highland Dr. At this time we are taking extra precautions to keep the community safe, we appreciate the understanding and we apologize for the inconvenience.

If you need a cool place to hangout Northern Delights is open and Cali Jays starts serving food at noon!

As of Monday June 15th all Burn Permits will be Suspended until further notice. Through the weekend be sure to call 1-866-287-6329 to determine if it is an approved burn day. We are expected to start having Red Flag Warnings in the next few days.

From CAL FIRE:

CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit – Warming temperatures and winds are quickly drying out the abundant annual grass crop. The increasing fire danger posed by the high volume of dead grass as well as hotter and drier conditions in the region, are prompting CAL FIRE to suspend all burn permits for outdoor residential burning within the State Responsibility Area of Shasta and Eastern Trinity Counties. This suspension takes effect at: 8:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026, and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris such as branches and leaves.
