Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
2026 Annual Meeting of members.
The 2026 Annual Meeting for the members of Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department, Inc, will be held Thursday, September 3rd, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department located at
5416 Mountain View Road, Hays, NC. 28635.

Individuals who are eligible for membership and who submitted an application for membership to the secretary of the corporation at least ninety (90) days prior to this annual meeting can attend and participate in this annual meeting.

Membership in the corporation shall automatically terminate when a member:

(1) Ceases to reside in or own real property in the Mountain View Fire Protection District or;

(2) Does not attend three consecutive regular annual meetings including any substitute annual meeting of the members as specified in Article II, Sections 2 and 3 of the Amended By-Laws.

During the 2026 Annual Meeting, the members shall elect three individuals to serve three year terms as members of the Corporation's Board of Directors, approve the minutes for the Corporation's prior annual meeting and will be presented a review of the Corporation's financial activities.

One of the most important functions of the fire service is the Medical Responder program.
For the past several years, we have averaged over 450 medical calls each year in Mountain View.
Our Medical Responders are also firefighters that are required to take extra training to keep up their certifications.....all volunteer.
We are in our 37th year now of offering this service to the community. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, our Medical Responders respond to your house or business when needed to assist Wilkes County EMS.

Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and injuries in North Carolina. Not faulty wiring. Not old smoke alarms. Your stove!

Here's the scary part: Most cooking fires happen in seconds. And most are preventable.

✅ Never leave cooking unattended: Not even to check on something else. If you leave the kitchen, turn off the stove.
✅ Keep flammable items away: Towels, curtains, paper, packaging. All belong far from the stove.
✅ Turn pot handles inward: Keep them from being bumped or grabbed by children.
✅ If a grease fire starts, DON'T use water: Use a fire extinguisher or cover the pan with a metal lid to smother it.

For renters and apartment residents: Discuss fire safety with your landlord. Know the locations of extinguishers and familiarize yourself with escape routes. Your kitchen is the heart of your home, so keep it safe! 🔥
