We strive to provide safe, clean drinking water to our customers and promote a healthy environment through sustainable water management. 📣 Applications are now open for the 4-H Water Ambassador Program!

Teens ages 13 and older in the Cottonwood Extension District (Ellis and Barton counties) are invited to apply for this hands-on leadership opportunity focused on water conservation, water water quality, water technology, and water-related careers.

Selected Water Ambassadors will:

Attend two training sessions
Learn about the water cycle and conserving water
Explore technology used to monitor water resources
Discover careers connected to water
Use social media, video, and other tools to share water education
Lead water-focused activities for youth and community members

Ambassadors may participate in classroom presentations, after-school programs, 4-H Club meetings, county fair displays, community events, and more.

Applicants must complete an application and participate in an interview process.

"Keep in mind that heat and drought stress cannot be overcome with extra water. Creating soggy soils with extra water is counterproductive; roots growing in overly wet soils will die due to a lack of oxygen."
It is difficult to keeps things in the landscape "thriving" during the hot and windy conditions that often come with this time of year - extra water is NOT always the answer! The article shared in the first comment provides great tips on how to deal with this HOT and DRY time of year.
