Come by and check it out!

The Town of Haysi will hold an Open House on April 17th from 1pm-4pm for the public to come and see the beautiful new Municipal Building! We're excited to share this milestone with our community and we have a feeling that you're interested in seeing it.

We want to thank everyone who had a part in helping us with the new Town Hall! It's pretty amazing to have a project built with Haysi in mind, but not have to be responsible for any of the labor or paperwork. Special thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, our Federal Sponsor-Dickenson County and the Board of Supervisors, and the contractor C. J. Mahan. We also want to thank the elected officials that represent Haysi on the state and federal levels - Congressman Morgan Griffith, Senator Mark Warner, Senator Tim Kaine, Delegate Will Morefield, and Senator Todd Pillion. Haysi will no longer have to be concerned about flood waters damaging the Town Municipal Building.

Residents are advised to avoid recreational activities in the McClure River due to reports of sewage spills, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

These activities include swimming, wading, tubing, white-water canoeing or kayaking, where full-body submersion is more likely to occur. Boating activities where full-body submersion is not likely to occur (motor boating, flatwater canoeing or kayaking, and fishing) may continue with proper caution to avoid exposure to contaminated water, the VDH added.

A sewage spill to a tributary of the McClure River was discovered by the Dickenson Public Sewer Authority this week. The timeline for the repair is expected to occur over the next week. VDH is issuing the advisory so the public may avoid the area until a repair is confirmed.
