If you live within the City of Salinas, you may qualify for the Pilot Rental Assistance Program offered by ECHO Housing in partnership with the City of Salinas.

To be eligible, you must:
✅ Live within the City of Salinas
✅ Not have previously participated in this program
✅ Have a household income at or below 100% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
✅ Have a valid 12-month lease
✅ Provide a valid 3-Day Notice to Pay Rent or Quit
✅ Be no more than 3 months behind on rent
✅ Not be receiving rental assistance or subsidies from another program
✅ Have a property owner or manager who is willing to participate

🏡 Attention Pacific Grove Residents!

ECHO Housing, in partnership with the City of Pacific Grove, is pleased to announce Gateway to Housing Assistance, a rental assistance program designed to help eligible Pacific Grove residents who have fallen behind on rent due to a temporary financial hardship.

You may qualify if you:
✅ Live within the City of Pacific Grove
✅ Have a valid 12-month lease
✅ Have received a valid 3-Day Notice to Pay Rent or Quit
✅ Are no more than three months behind on rent
✅ Are not currently receiving rental assistance or another housing subsidy
✅ Agree to participate in a HUD-approved rental counseling session through ECHO Housing
✅ Have a property owner or manager who agrees to participate in the program

Happy Fair Housing Month! 🏡

In 1963, the Rumford Act made history as California’s first major fair housing law—prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, and ancestry.

Just one year later, Proposition 14 attempted to roll back those protections. In response, a group of committed volunteers came together to stand for housing justice—forming what would become ECHO Housing.

In 1966, Proposition 14 was ruled unconstitutional, restoring critical protections.

Then, on April 11, 1968—just one week after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.—the Fair Housing Act was signed into law by Lyndon B. Johnson, expanding fair housing protections nationwide.

Today, ECHO Housing proudly partners with communities across Alameda, Contra Costa, and Monterey counties to fight housing discrimination and ensure everyone has the freedom of housing choice.
