Friday the 14th the team held a mock search in the area of the Gravel Pit Trailhead. 17 members took 87 minutes locating the 18th teammate after working through some very tough mantracking conditions, particularly at the last known point of the "lost" subject. Our trackers had to find sign at an area with moderate traffic, both UTV and auto, exiting the area and then reversing direction. 2 tracking teams worked diligently to establish direction of travel and 3 more tracking teams joined in to advance sign, along with an aerial drone and trailing K9 Saleh. In the end the mantrackers were hot on trail and K9 Saleh went in for the find. It was a very good night for the team, applying their training to real world scenario, and closing with a successful "search and rescue" !

Today, we take a moment to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country. Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their all for the freedoms we cherish every day.

On behalf of everyone at SawyerCountySearchandRescue, we honor the fallen, celebrate their legacy, and extend our heartfelt respect to the families who carry this sacrifice with them daily.

Today also happens to be National Missing Children Day. The two days cannot be compared but neither can be ignored.

Our team gathered Saturday to train on man tracking in the Oxbo area. There were tracks along hard ground along the road and trails, with contamination. There were tracks crossing over other tracks, but how many times? And there were marked tracks going into the woods...now find the track back out without any markings! Thank you to Bill and Bryan for organizing and running this great training. And of course we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge Sasquatch and his help along the way!!

Recertification time!! Going from Thursday to Sunday there were 6 recertifications earned amongst 4 of our K9's. K9 Gunny and K9 Cheeto earned certificates for trailing and HRD. K9 Saleh earned a certificate for trailing and K9 Trouble earned a certificate for HRD. Congratulations to them and their handlers: Pat Sanchez , Greg Peterson , Billy Falk, Karyn Schauf and Ed McRoberts .
These couldn't be achieved without others helping, a large thank you to tracklayers Jesse Peterson, Jim Bishop, Veronica Balzar, Pat Sanchez, Ed McRoberts, and Gigi Tilander for taking pictures.
