Today, we take a moment to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country. Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave their all for the freedoms we cherish every day.

On behalf of everyone at SawyerCountySearchandRescue, we honor the fallen, celebrate their legacy, and extend our heartfelt respect to the families who carry this sacrifice with them daily.

Today also happens to be National Missing Children Day. The two days cannot be compared but neither can be ignored.

Our team gathered Saturday to train on man tracking in the Oxbo area. There were tracks along hard ground along the road and trails, with contamination. There were tracks crossing over other tracks, but how many times? And there were marked tracks going into the woods...now find the track back out without any markings! Thank you to Bill and Bryan for organizing and running this great training. And of course we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge Sasquatch and his help along the way!!

Recertification time!! Going from Thursday to Sunday there were 6 recertifications earned amongst 4 of our K9's. K9 Gunny and K9 Cheeto earned certificates for trailing and HRD. K9 Saleh earned a certificate for trailing and K9 Trouble earned a certificate for HRD. Congratulations to them and their handlers: Pat Sanchez , Greg Peterson , Billy Falk, Karyn Schauf and Ed McRoberts .
These couldn't be achieved without others helping, a large thank you to tracklayers Jesse Peterson, Jim Bishop, Veronica Balzar, Pat Sanchez, Ed McRoberts, and Gigi Tilander for taking pictures.

Saturday team training: track identification, mantracking and article search for hidden playing cards, coins and a bonus article. After training K9 training, work your dog through all that contamination we just trained in, work a clean track and finish with a little HRD work.
It was a very good day with some really good, dedicated, individuals.

Here at SCSAR will be starting a Search Goat team. It was decided that for the terrain, and heavy ground cover, goats will give us an extreme advantage in our searches. With their sure footedness they will be able to reach many of the steep, rocky inclines that human searchers would struggle with.
Also, there are many times searchers need to go through heavy underbrush and briars and who better to eat their way through than a SCSAR goat? We are all very excited about this new venture and look forward to serving this community with our goats.
