Main Street will be closed from First Baptist Church to the Gorman Bridge beginning at 5:00 PM today for Drift Appalachia, presented by Backroads of Appalachia.

Please have all vehicles moved off Main Street by 5:00 PM.

The Block Party runs from 6:00–9:00 PM, and it should be a fun night in Downtown Hazard!

Main Street will be closed from First Baptist Church to the Gorman Bridge beginning at 5:00 PM this Friday, September 11, for the Drift Appalachia presented by Backroads of Appalachia.

πŸŽƒ DOWNTOWN SCARECROW STROLL 2026 πŸŽƒ

Stroll downtown for scarecrows, decorated storefronts, and fall fun on Main Street! This FREE community event is open to businesses, schools, organizations, and clubs.

Create a family-friendly scarecrow to display in Downtown Hazard throughout October.

Decorate your downtown storefront with a festive fall display!

🍁 SCARECROW CONTEST DETAILS

β€’ Participation is free.
β€’ Scarecrows must be family-friendly and no taller than 7 feet.
β€’ Participants are responsible for creating, decorating, installing, maintaining, and removing their scarecrows.
β€’ Each entry should include a weather-resistant sign identifying its creator.
β€’ Scarecrows must be securely constructed to withstand outdoor weather.
β€’ Each participant will receive a pole assignment after registration closes. Depending on the number of entries, two scarecrows may share a poleβ€”one on the front and one on the back.
β€’ Scarecrows must be installed September 26–30 and removed no later than November 7.

πŸ“§ POLE ASSIGNMENTS

Participants will receive an email during the week of September 21 with their pole number, location, and installation information.

Main Street businesses with a pole in front of or near their storefront will receive priority for that pole.

πŸ‘ PUBLIC VOTING

Each completed entry will be photographed and posted individually on the City of Hazard page.

Vote by β€œliking” the photo of your favorite scarecrow! The entry receiving the most likes by the deadline will earn bragging rights as our 2026 winner.

As the City of Hazard Civic Fellowship has grown, we have gotten to see our alumni grow up, earn additional degrees, enter the professional workforce, and do incredible things!
