Meet the Mermaids! Here are some of the most dedicated swimmers in the City of Hazelwood. The Mermaids, as they named themselves many years ago, are a group of adult swimmers who have enjoyed spending their summer afternoons during the Adult Only Swim time in our aquatic facilities for decades. Their origins begin before White Birch Bay Aquatic Center. Although the members have changed over the years, some members track all the way back to Louis F Kline, Memorial Pool in the 1980's and 90's. The Mermaids attribute many health benefits to the sparkling waters including rehabilitation of many knees, hips, and shoulders as well as the camaraderie amongst the group. As the 2026 season comes to a close, Hazelwood Parks and Recreation show our appreciation in a SALUTE TO THE MERMAIDS for your dedication and to your kindness exhibited towards the aquatic staff all summer long.
