“We Don’t Always Have to Be the Tough Guy”
Depression grows when we only live inside our own pain.
Many of us are taught to be the tough one. The one who keeps pushing forward, carries the weight, and never lets anyone know when we’re struggling. Whether you’re a first responder, veteran, blue-collar worker, parent, business owner, caregiver, or simply someone trying to make it through life, constantly carrying everything alone can become exhausting.
Self-pity can’t be the plan anymore. Find someone or something worth living for.
Find your purpose, then become the best version of yourself for that purpose.
*Stop drinking just to get drunk!*Stop smoking just to get high!*Stop hurting yourself just to feel something!*Stop being reckless hoping an accident happens!*Stop putting yourself in bad situations that destroy your peace!
A happy home is a happy life.
*If you’re married, make one night a week date night. Put the phones down and invest in each other.
*If you’re dating, become someone worth marrying.
*If you’re single with kids, take them to the park, the zoo, fishing, ballgames, or anywhere memories can be made. One day those memories are all they’ll have, so make sure they’re good ones.
*If you’re single without kids, focus on becoming successful, disciplined, and the kind of person who will make a great partner and parent someday.
There are countless reasons to keep moving forward, but I highly recommend living for Jesus. He has a way of healing broken places, strengthening relationships, and giving purpose when life feels empty.
We don’t always have to be the tough guy.
Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is admit they’re struggling, ask for help, and choose to keep fighting another day.
*Find your purpose.*Live your purpose.*Be someone else’s purpose.
