I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support! Thank you for all the private messages, well wishes and questions. It warms my heart to see how many of you care and want what’s right for our kids! Feel free to continue messaging any questions you have!

While BOE seats are not affiliated with any political party, I feel it’s important to tell everyone that real change happens at the State and Federal levels. So while I am super excited and hopeful to be a voice for our families, remember laws regarding the issues that matter most to us are made by Legislators way above the School Board.

Help change this uphill battle by voting for candidates that will stand for our beliefs and values!

Did you know the new S*x Ed curricula was sneakily slid into law in 2020 when us parents were in the throws of Covid? Worrying about who will be home with our kids while we work to keep food on the table. Worrying about IF we’ll still have a job to keep food on the table. For many of us it was survival mode. Some of the most stressful years of our lives. THAT’s when State Legislators and the State School Board chose to pass that law. Disgusting.

Now’s the time for change. Vote these people out of office and take back our family values and focus on making up for lost time on real education - reading, writing and arithmetic.

Hi Parents. Did you hear about this today? A unanimous vote by the CDC to add the Covid shot to the list of scheduled childhood vaccines. While the CDC doesn’t set the rules for vaccinations for public schools, many states, including NJ, adopt those guidelines for their schools.

We need to vote for legislators that will vote against this for NJ. This election is so important on so many levels - but our children’s health and the right to make those decisions as parents is a top one for me. I hope it is for you too.

Please make sure to vote on Nov 8th. Let’s fight together to protect our kids!

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention panel is expected to vote Thursdayon voting whether to add theCOVID shot to the list of recommended childhood vacc

It’s time to but an end to this. Let’s fight together. All kids have the right to feel safe in school!!!

Middletown is grieving the death of a 14-year-old girl, who just started her sophomore year at Middletown High School North:

Great news!! As we are having Back To School nights, we learned this year starts “opt in “ for 2nd and 5th graders to learn about “family life”. More details to follow!

I’m happy to see Hazlet is doing the right thing with this ridiculous curricula. And it allows us to give more time and energy to focus on another big concern of parents - BULLYING.

I am sadly hearing from many parents that are struggling with this in our district. A beautiful, young girl in Middletown lost her life last week because of bullying. We have to stand up to bullies and have real consequences. Not suspend and return time and time again.

I don’t want to see another child harmed or killed over bullying. I hear you and will FIGHT for all our kids if elected.

Sunday, Oct2nd I will be hosting a “Coffee with the Candidate” - let’s talk and fight back together. Details to come!!!

09/10/2022

Been talking to parents in town and bullying is sadly a big concern. I have seen first hand how bullies are allowed back into our schools time and time again. This has to stop!! We cannot continually protect one at the expense of many others. It’s not right. If elected I will fight for our kids to feel safe in school EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Some great news and updates from our Superintendent!

It is important to still attend back to school night so we can understand what the new Health and Education curriculum means to each of our children. But seems things will remain unchanged for our younger students and they will have an opt in plan for June 2023 if you want your child to learn more.

If your unhappy with what the NJEA is pushing on our kids and voice that at your local school board meeting, the NJEA considers you an extremist and wants you to “take it someplace else.”

Stay loud and proud! Make sure to vote this November and elect officials that will stand up to the NJEA and put learning, not grooming in the classroom!

A vote for me is a vote for all of you. Let’s protect our kids and preserve our families together.

My name is Lisa Brown, and I would like your consideration for a seat on the Hazlet Township School Board.

I have been a resident of Hazlet for the past 15 years. Growing up in Keyport, I have been apart of our Bayshore community my whole life. My husband Joseph grew up in Hazlet and attended school in town. We have two daughters, ages 12 and 7 who attend Hazlet Middle School and Middle Road School. As a parent within our community, I have a vested interest in the education and safety of our children.

In my current role of employment as an inside sales manager, I lead a team of 25 inbound sales representatives and one supervisor and have worked for the company for 19 years. I would use my years of leadership skills and experience to serve the parents and children of our great town.

My personal beliefs as a Hazlet parent:

Health and Physical Education

This will be year one of the new Comprehensive Health and Physical Education curriculum adopted by our State in June of 2020. This new curriculum outlines when a student should learn about topics such as s*xual orientation, reproduction, gender identity and anatomy. The individual school districts have a choice as to HOW they meet these standards.

First, I would like to see if we can explore the idea of having an opt-in only option, where if parents want their children to learn about these topics, they would have to opt-in, otherwise it would be understood that the child would be exempt from the class.

I would prefer teachings of oral and a**l s*x not be included in our curricula. But if mandated, my hope is that we can push back these topics and others such as learning about ma********on to high school students.

The good news is that currently New Jersey allows parents or guardians to remove their children for any part of the health, family life, or s*x education classes if it is “in conflict with their conscience, or sincerely held moral or religious beliefs. Written notification will be required. If elected, I will push for full transparency on when these classes will be taught with notifications to parents multiple times alerting them of deadlines and procedures for opting out.

Vaccines and Mask Mandates

My belief is our children should not be forced to take a vaccine against COVID-19. It has been seen time and time again that people with the vaccine still contract the virus and some still end up with severe symptoms. It should be at the sole discretion of the parent or guardian of each child whether or not they want to give their child the shot.

As for masks, being a mother of a kindergartner when the pandemic struck, I can attest first hand to the struggles these children had the past three school years. Elementary students are learning language and pronunciation. This was extremely difficult when both the teachers and students mouths were covered. The students could not see “th” “sh “f” “s” etc. Let’s hope we NEVER have to worry about that mandate again! BUT…if we do…my belief, is that we do not mask any of our kids. I know our Superintendent fought for us and his hands were tied by the State. If it ever happens again and we are forced, I would fight for, at the very minimum, to remove our pre-k through grade 4 students from the mandate.

I do understand that the district was forced by Governor Murphy when it came to COVID-19 mandates. But I appreciated the support given by our Superintendent, Dr. Scott Ridley. It was comforting to know he was fighting for us, not against us during that very difficult time.

With progressive pressures coming from everywhere and the removal of the parents from a child’s s*xual education, I want to do everything in my power to help protect Hazlet’s children and hold a seat which will vote conservatively in their favor.

If elected, I promise to take careful consideration on every decision with the very best intention for our children and their well-being. I love our town and the people in it. I have made lifelong friendships here, many with parents I met through our children. It would be my honor to serve you all.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
