A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our bingo fundraiser yesterday ! Even though we had a hiccup to start the day, it still turned out great. We had 154 players yesterday so it was our biggest turnout in our 26 years of bingo games !

Today, Diamond members, along with the on-duty career staff of the Hazleton Fire Department, received familiarization training on the new Holmatro rescue tools procured by the Hazleton Volunteer Firemens Relief Association at a cost of approximately $125,000 without any financial burden on taxpayers.

These tools are part of a project aimed at completely replacing the complement of Hurst tools, which have been relied upon by the city since the 1979 and comprised a combination of battery powered and standard twin-line hydraulic tools. While upgraded many times over the years with newer more modern Hurst models, the phasing out of traditional twin-line hydraulic systems which limited the availability of parts and components prompted a look at options available today.

Although members possess extensive experience with hydraulic rescue tools, the transition to Holmatro battery-powered tools necessitates adjustments due to differences in operation and capabilities, which will ultimately enhance our ability to serve the public.

The training session today marked the culmination of a multi-session orientation program provided by ESI, designed to introduce us to the new equipment.

We extend our gratitude to all parties involved in this acquisition, including those who evaluated and compared various brands, the Hazleton Volunteer Firemens Relief delegates from all 5 volunteer fire companies for recognizing and understanding the need for new tools, and everyone else who contributed to the project's success.

The photographs shown are from today's training session, but we also acknowledge the members who participated in the preceding sessions.
