The office will be closed on Monday, February 16th, for Presidents' Day. Water/Sewer bills were mailed out on Feb. 2 with a due date of Feb. 17. Council approved at the January regular meeting that garbage pickup would start at 5 am.

With the Blizzard Warning in effect, the decision has been made to delay tonight's council meeting until Wednesday, January 28th, at 6pm.

The City of Hazleton Water Department will be fixing a broken water main tomorrow morning at 0800, January 17th, 2026, at the intersection of Sufficool st West and Main St South. The repairs will result in a possible water shutdown from the intersection of C57 East & First St N to the intersection of C57 West & Third St S ally, and everything South of C57. Please take a look at the map I've attached. The affected water lines are marked in red. The water is expected to be low flow, with the possibility of being shut down around 10 and being back on by mid-afternoon. Please note that in unexpected situations, other areas near this location could be affected. If you see any rust in your water, please let it run, and it will clear up.

The city was notified of a water main break this afternoon. Sufficool Street South is being shut down until all repairs are made. Also, the water will be reduced/shutdown Saturday, January 17th, starting around 8:30 AM in parts of the town. A map will be forthcoming to those affected. Thank you to those of you who called City Hall to notify us of the problem.

The repairs will result in a possible water shutdown from the intersection of C57 & First St N to the intersection of C57 & Monroe St N, and everything North of C57. Please take a look at the map I've attached. The water is expected to be low flow and shut down around noon and be back on by mid-afternoon. Please note that in unexpected situations, other areas near this location could be affected. The area highlighted in red is the affected area.

HAZLETON, IOWA

The City of Hazleton, Iowa, is seeking a Code Compliance Officer. This position is for the community and will be tasked with developing a process and program to complete inspections and enforce city ordinances. It will be important for this individual to be personable and work with the public through difficult situations in an understanding but firm manner. This individual must be skilled in decision-making and generally work well with the public with minimal supervision.

This position is part-time and reports to the Mayor of Hazleton. The position will also be expected to work across City Departments, including the City Clerk, Public Works, and City Attorney, to address and solve issues. The Code Compliance Officer must be customer service-oriented and energized by working with and serving the community members with differing goals, opinions, and objectives to address and solve difficult issues.
