The Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District (NSCAPCD) is one of 35 California air districts established to regulate the emissions of air pollution from "stationary sources" that could be detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of the public. The District's legal mandate originates from the federal Clean Air Act and California Health and Safety Code, and our oversight agencies

are the federal Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board. Our local rules and regulations are adopted by the District Board of Directors.

All Hands Ecology plans to conduct two prescribed burns, for a total of 8 acres, Wednesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 18, on private properties on Sweetwater Springs Road near Guerneville and Highway 116 near Monte Rio. These burns are part of an ongoing effort to steward native ecosystem health, reduce potential wildfire fuels, build community resilience, and serve as valuable training for local fire managers. Please be advised that CAL FIRE will be conducting pile burns in the Fitch Mountain Open Space Preserve as part of our ongoing and essential vegetation management and fuel-reduction work.

The preserve will remain open to the public, but smoke will be visible throughout the day on December 1st and 2nd.

CAL FIRE will potentially perform a burn today, pending weather conditions, at Yorty Creek at Lake Sonoma of approximately 400 acres. Project objectives are to reduce wildfire intensity, reduce dead fuel load, and to provide training with CAL FIRE, USACE, local fire agencies and tribes.

CAL FIRE and Sonoma Land Trust plan to conduct a prescribed burn of up to 30 acres at the Sonoma Mountain Vernal Pools Preserve on Monday, November 3, as part of a land management strategy that will build resilience against wildfire and benefit native habitat in the Sonoma Valley.

Approximate locations is 8301 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa, between Keiser Ranch Road and Enterprise Road. This is a permitted burn; please avoid calling 9-1-1 to report smoke and fire in the area. Roadway signage will be posted, and one-way traffic control will be in place.

9-acre prescribed burn planned near Healdsburg on November 3rd to reduce invasive French broom to benefit native habitat and promote wildfire resilience near Healdsburg.

Ignitions may commence as early as 8 a.m. and conclude by 5 p.m. Residents in the Del Rio Woods and Camp Rose, and downtown areas of Healdsburg may see or smell smoke in the air for up to 10 hours. Travelers in the area on Highway 101 and Highway 128 may notice smoke in the air and experience slowing traffic. Travelers and residents on Rio Lindo Ave and North Fitch Mountain Rd may see live fire. Smoke will be visible on ALERTCalifornia cameras; prescribed fire managers will patrol the units until deemed secure.

California State Parks is planning up to 47 acres of prescribed burns near Gerstle Cove at Salt Point State Park, beginning as early as Friday, Oct. 31, or when conditions permit. The park will remain open during burn days. The Southern Terminus of the Salt Point Trail Parking Lot and Overflow Parking/Camping will be temporarily closed.

Ignitions are expected to occur over one day with the goal of supporting ongoing vegetation management, wildlife habitat improvement, invasive plant management and other long term stewardship efforts.

CAL FIRE and Sonoma Land Trust are partnering to conduct a 60-acre prescribed burn at Pole Mountain and Little Black Mountain Preserves near Cazadero on Tuesday.

The effort is part of a larger fuels management and forest health strategy for the area.

It will be conducted by prescribed fire managers from CAL FIRE, with support from Sonoma Land Trust staff, local fire districts and the Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District.
