Last night, we had the privilege of participating in an exceptional extrication training session led by Jeff Gates from MES Fire and Rescue, who traveled from Utah to Healy. Mr. Gates demonstrated the features of our newly acquired Holmatro extrication tools, which were secured through the Alaska DOT grant. We were joined by MVFD, and the training was highly informative. We appreciate Mr. Gates' expertise and the knowledge he shared with us. We also had the opportunity to demonstrate to Mr. Gates the challenges of extricating vehicles in -20 degree temperatures, a unique aspect of training in Alaska. (We were fortunate it wasn’t -60).
I am very proud of these firefighters for continuing to put in the work and sharpening their skills to keep this community safe.
