The Hearne Police Department is seeking a certified Texas Peace Officer for a full-time position.

Requirements:

-High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

-Basic police certification from TCOLE is required.

-Driver License

The City of Hearne is only 18 miles from Bryan/College Station and Texas A&M University. The City of Hearne Police Department is seeking certified Texas Peace Officers for a full-time position. Please read requirements prior to applying for the position. The City of Hearne offers full benefits, Health, Life, Dental, and a 2:1 matching retirement.

Requirements:

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

-High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

-Minimum of Basic police certification from TCOLE is required.

-Intermediate police certification from TCOLE is preferred.

Knowledge of:

Applicable laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, and codes pertaining to police activities.

Criminal law and procedures with particular reference to the apprehension, arrest, and custody of persons committing misdemeanors or felonies; and the seizure and preservation of evidence in traffic and criminal cases.

Interviewing and interrogation techniques.

Use of fi****ms and other police equipment.

Principles of effective public relations and relationships with individuals, community groups and other agencies.

First aid techniques.

Skills and Abilities:

Maintain knowledge of the latest technological advancements and trends in law enforcement.

Interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

Follow guidelines for the use and care of fi****ms.

Enforce laws firmly, tactfully and impartially.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Using computers and various software programs.

Remain alert at all times and react quickly, calmly, and rationally in times of extreme stress.

Defuse confrontational and/or hostile individuals.

Exercise judgment and utilize discretion with tact.

Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.

Read, write, and speak fluent English.

Be punctual and regular in attendance.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

-Possess a valid Texas Basic Peace Officer License by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

-Meet and maintain all regulatory requirements by TCOLE.

-Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
