Our area is under a flood watch this afternoon into this evening. Remember to never drive through flooded roadways and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Sign up for emergency alerts at wasatchcounty.gov/emergencyalerts.

A Flood Watch is in effect for much of Utah and SW Wyoming, excluding the west desert, today (7/22). Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon will be capable of producing heavy rainfall that can lead to flash flooding especially for normally dry washes, slot canyons, and recent burn scars. Those planning to head outdoors should reconsider plans, and those living in these areas should have multiple ways to receive warnings.

on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District remains at 145 acres and containment has increased 64%. Today, the fire area received significant precipitation and some lightning. Tomorrow, crews will continue securing the fire perimeter when it is safe to do so. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Red Creek Mountain Road FS080 and Low Pass Road FS106 are closed to the public at this time. At this time, there are no reported threats to structures or communities. Smoke is visible from Highway 35 and 40 and surrounding area please do not report.

Red Creek Mountain Road FS080, Low Pass Road FS106, and West Side Currant Creek Road FS471 are closed to the public currently. South of FS080, West of FS106 and FS471, East of FS083, and North of FS082 serve as the boundaries of the closure area.

on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District remains at approximately 230 acres and is 15% contained. Overnight rainfall helped dampen parts of the burn area, though heavier fuels are still retaining heat. An IR flight is scheduled for today to identify remaining hot spots, and updated acreage will be shared this evening. Today firefighter crews will continue working along the perimeter, removing hazardous snags, reinforcing the line, and mopping up to 20 feet where safe to do so. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Red Creek Mountain Road FS080 and Low Pass Road FS106 are closed to the public at this time. At this time, there are no reported threats to structures or communities. on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District remains at approximately 230 acres and is 15% contained. There are 149 personnel working on this incident. Thunderstorms moved across the district this afternoon, delivering substantial rainfall over the fire area. Showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday. Tomorrow crews will continue to work the perimeter of the fire by removing hazardous snags, reinforcing the line, and mopping up up to 20 feet where safe to do so. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Smoke visible in the Heber Valley is coming from a new fire start in .

The fire is about three miles from Timberlakes and the church property and poses no threat to structures or communities at this time.

Fire suppression teams, including air support, are currently responding. The U.S. Forest Service has closed Red Creek Mountain Road.
