City of Heber Springs Public Works Update: Snow vs. Ice Removal

We understand many residents are eager to have their streets cleared during this winter weather. Please know our Public Works crews are working hard to make roads safe.

Right now, most neighborhood streets have packed ice, which is much harder and more time-consuming to remove than snow. Here’s why:
• Snow can be quickly pushed aside by plows, allowing streets to be cleared faster.
• Ice, especially when compacted, must be carefully scraped and treated to avoid damaging the road and to ensure safe driving conditions. This process takes longer and often requires multiple passes.
• Main roads and emergency routes are prioritized first to keep everyone safe.

We appreciate your patience as our crews work as quickly and safely as possible. Your safety is our top priority, and streets will be addressed as conditions allow.

Thank you for your understanding,
City of Heber Springs Public Works

We held our annual Shop with a Cop event, and it couldn’t have gone better. This year we were able to take 17 kids shopping. Officers from multiple agencies volunteered their time. Walmart also went all out and decorated carts for the kids, had cookies and candy ready, and the kids had a special visitor in the toy section, Santa! It is unclear who had more fun the kids or our officers. Thanks to all our sponsors, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish, Cleburne County Sheriffs Office and your own Heber Springs Officers for making Shop with a Cop 2025 awesome.
