**** PRESS RELEASE ****

At approximately 1:45 p.m. on April 8th, 2026, the Thayer County Sheriff's Office, along with Deshler Fire and Rescue, responded to Reinke Manufacturing located at 1040 Rd 5300 for a medical response. Upon arrival units were directed to an area of the facility housing bundles of pipe. Trenton Fuentez, age 35, of Deshler, Ne., a Reinke employee, was located beneath several large pipes which had apparently come loose from an elevated bundle. Mr. Fuentez was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office extends its condolences to the family of Mr. Fuentez as well as everyone at Reinke Manufacturing. We also appreciate the assistance provided by Deshler Fire and Rescue. Grief councilors are being made available to anyone needing assistance.

Today, Governor Jim Pillen issued a statewide burn ban to help reduce the risk of additional wildfires across Nebraska.

The Governor’s executive order prohibiting burning will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on March 27.
