It was another fun night at the Thayer County Fair. Tomorrow nights main attraction will be a concert so if you’re in the mood for good entertainment, good food, and a whole lot of fun stop by your Thayer County Fair. Sheriff Lee and several Deputies enjoyed handing out stickers and footballs tonight. Hope to see you tomorrow night.

This notice was recently received by a resident in Hebron. This is a SCAM. With so many different scams it is extremely important to contact a trusted friend, family member, or law enforcement agency when in doubt. Be alert, be safe, and be well.

Sheriff Lee and some staff will be attending the funeral service for Crete Police Chief Gary Young on Monday August 3rd. Anyone wanting to drop off cards to be delivered may do so by leaving them at the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office by noon on Sunday August 2.

It is with extreme sadness that we share this news from the Crete Police Department. Chief Young is the son of former Sheriff, Gary R . Young and his wife Sharon . We offer our condolences and prayers to the entire Young family and the Crete police Department.

City of Crete departments and staff are deeply saddened by the passing yesterday, July 27, of Chief of Police Gary Young. He served the Crete Police Department honorably for 41 years and was appointed Chief in 2022. A true public servant, Young was dedicated to the safety of his community and worked hard to make sure the department and officers in his command were successful in meeting the needs of residents. His commitment to the highest ideals of law enforcement and service to the Crete community will not be forgotten.

The thoughts of City of Crete staff are with his family, friends, and fellow officers during this difficult time.

Sheriff Lee and Deputy Pickering found a nice shady spot to cool off while enjoying a glass of lemonade and iced tea. These ladies have a lemonade stand at 5th and Duffield in Hebron. Stop by for a refreshing drink.
