Today we had the pleasure of showing some kids at My School Daycare in Winfield some fire Prevention tips. Unfortunately due to Covid it was much more scaled back than normal, but the kids were still excited to see the trucks and learn some safety tips!

Good Morning, we would like to thank the public for alerting not only us, but the Town Code Enforcement, as well as Winfield PD about their concerns at the local Dollar General on 109th Ave. As of right now, the store has been closed until they can rectify the life safety issues they have throughout the store. We have been in contact with the State Fire Marshal’s office, dollar general's corporate offices and they are all aware of the situation. They will be closed down for at least the next few business days, or until they have the situation rectified.

We would like to express our condolences to South Holland Fire Department on the loss of one of their FF/Paramedics. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

From J. Wynsma, Village Administrator for the Village of South Holland:

The Village of South Holland is deeply saddened to report the tragic loss of firefighter Dylan Cunningham, following an underwater dive on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Cunningham has been a member of the South Holland Fire Department since 2011. He started as a part-time firefighter, and began serving full time in 2018. Dylan also served in the Illinois Army National Guard since 2012.

We know you have many questions, and so do we. Our efforts will bring conclusions that we will share with you in the coming days.
In the days ahead we will be doing everything we can to support the Cunningham family. We ask that you keep Dylan’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

On this night 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 9:40am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. Tonight as you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

“This enemy attacked not just our people, but all freedom-loving people everywhere in the world. The United States of America will use all our resources to conquer this enemy. We will rally the world. We will be patient, we will be focused, and we will be steadfast in our determination.... we will not allow this enemy to win the war by changing our way of life or restricting our freedoms." George W. Bush

On Nov. 9th, 2019, alledgedly between hrs. 3:30 am - 5:00 am, my 86 yr. old father, Zachariah Wayne Lee, Jr., D.O.B 06/29/33, gray hair, blue eyes, went missing from home. He suffers from Alzheimers, yet I still feel certain that foul play factored in to his missing; due to several red flags, & his disease was used as a diversion! My dad is my world, I love him DEEPLY, & I can only speak for myself of the DAILY pain I go through not having closure. Porter Co. Sheriff's Dept. & their Detective Spicer that was assigned my dad's Silver Alert, bothched his S&R, & gave no consideration to investigate my grave concerns of foul play. If you can in ANY way share this & possibly it bring MUCH NEEDED closure, I couldn't thank you enough.
