On Tuesday, June 9, our department hosted a Grain Bin Rescue Training class. The training covered the procedures and techniques used to safely rescue individuals who become trapped in grain bins.
As part of the event, our department also received a grain bin rescue tube through a generous donation from Nationwide Insurance. The donation was made possible through a nomination submitted by The Cornerstone Agency Inc. and Walters Farm.
Training was provided by the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS), which utilized its grain bin rescue training prop to provide hands-on instruction and realistic rescue scenarios.
The class was attended by members of our department, along with personnel from Fontana Fire and Rescue, Walworth Fire & Rescue, Richmond Township Fire Protection District, Wonder Lake Fire Protection District, and Harvard Fire Protection District.
We would like to thank Nationwide Insurance, The Cornerstone Agency, Walters Farm, NECAS, McHenry County Farm Bureau, and all participating departments for helping make this valuable training opportunity possible. This equipment and training will enhance our ability to respond safely and effectively to grain bin emergencies in our community.
