🔥 Fire Danger is HIGH Today in Morton County 🔥

With dry conditions and wind, it won’t take much for a fire to start and spread quickly.

Burn restrictions are in place for much of Morton County. This includes campfires, burning, and most open flame activities.

If it sparks, it can spread—fast. Today is a good day to hold off on anything that could create a flame.

Stay aware and help prevent wildfires!

You can find Morton County's Burn Restrictions at www.mortonnd.gov/mortonfire

The Bureau of Land Management has planned a 231-acre prescribed burn tomorrow at the Schnell Recreation Area near Richardton, pending favorable weather and site conditions.

All prescribed fire operations follow detailed burn plans with specific requirements for weather, fuel conditions and safety. Ignition will begin only when those criteria are met, and the BLM will coordinate with local authorities before starting.

Smoke will be visible on the day of ignition and may linger in surrounding areas for several days. Fire crews will remain on site during ignition and continue to monitor and patrol the area until the burn is declared out.

Prescribed fire is a key land management tool that reduces hazardous fuels, improves wildfire preparedness, supports biodiversity and promotes overall ecosystem health.

For more information, call the BLM North Dakota Field Office at 701-227-7700. Updates will also be posted on Facebook at Bureau of Land Management – Montana/Dakotas.
