Constable Randy Bond

I was at the Lowe's grocery store a few days ago when a retired master sergeant came up to me and placed this is in my hand.

He thanked me for my service.

You have no idea what these moments mean to me. I don’t find it necessary for people to thank me for my service because it’s my privilege but I do have endless gratitude for those who go out of their way to make sure we know we still matter.

Whether we see it or not, people are watching and listening.

Thank you so much, Master Sergeant Buick Mclamb of United States Marine Corps.

I hope you see you all at the games this year. I love supporting the Hedley Owls! Check out the schedule below.

I want to address a since deleted comment. I am addressing this with the intention to squash any rumors that are running around our community concerning my position.

I do not know where these originated but it is my responsibility to speak on my behalf.

Rumor 1: Constable Bond has been offered the ability to retrieve a vehicle from Donley County Sheriffs Office at his disposable.

This is completely false.

Rumor 2: Constable Bond is refusing to serve warrants.

This is also completely false.

When I ran for this position, I took an oath to protest and serve the people of Donley County to the best of my ability. I cannot do that without equipment, without a vehicle, and without everything else it takes to do this job safely and successfully.

Tonight, we are having our hearing to discuss a “fair and reasonable salary” for my position. I can’t think of any position where $100/month is reasonable.

There is a lot more information that I am choosing not to disclose right now due to hope that the right thing will be done.

I appreciate the continued support.

I can tell you this - I’d much rather be spending my time helping my precincts better themselves in anyway possible. There is actually nothing that I want more and there is so much we could be doing.

Unfortunately, I am carving out time to advocate for what I feel in my heart is right and just. I’m not just speaking for myself but for constables who have found themselves in similar situations as me.

Protecting and serving the people of Donley County is worth more than .58 cents an hour. It is also worth having the proper and required gear to protect myself while on duty.

People always assume that it’s unlikely that something like that will happen to a small town cop but it does and statistics don’t matter until you become one.

Some people will think I’m just making waves and that I should go quietly into the night but our community deserves better than that and so do I.

I’ll take all the support I can get. I know it takes a village and I’m glad Donley County is mine.

Serving Donley County has been such a huge part of my life. When I retired, I once had a friend that told me that I wouldn’t be able to stay away for long and that turned out to be true.

The people in this community mean a lot to me. I have developed so many incredible relationships with the people who are truly the core of rural Texas.

Simply put, they are the heartbeat.

That’s why I ran for constable. I want to continue to serve the same people who make Donley County what it is and that is something remarkable.

My only interest is working along side the community in unison for the greater good of our people.

I took an oath a long time ago to protect and serve this county. That is something I don’t take lightly.

God Bless.

I am honored to serve Donley, County for over 20 years. I love this community and the people that reside within it. Small towns still matter and it’s my goal as Constable to make sure everyone still knows it.
