Today the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office had the opportunity to hang out with our friends at the Ranburne Senior Center. Sheriff Daniel spoke with the seniors about common scams and ways to protect themselves from becoming victims.

Topics included phone scams, text message scams, fake online accounts, and scammers pretending to be law enforcement or government agencies. Seniors were also reminded to never give out personal or banking information over the phone unless they are certain who they are speaking with.

The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the invitation and always enjoys spending time with the citizens of Cleburne County while helping keep the community informed and safe.

What an awesome time the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office had at the Pleasant Grove Elementary Field Day today. Sheriff Daniel and SRO Benefield even got to experience the dunking booth and those students definitely got them good.

We always enjoy getting out in the community and spending time with the students, staff, and families of Cleburne County. Thank you to Pleasant Grove Elementary for having us and making it such a fun day for everyone involved.

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped make it possible for our agency to receive four (4) Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) devices through the Impaired Driving Grant Program.

This funding was made possible through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered in Alabama through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs under the administration of Kay Ivey.

These new PBT devices will allow our deputies to have this important equipment readily available while on patrol, strengthening our ability to identify impaired drivers and improve roadway safety throughout Cleburne County.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the continued partnership and support from everyone involved in helping keep our roads safer for our citizens and visitors.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Investigator Tanner Howle and Deputy Landon Pointer on becoming ALERRT instructors. Having instructors in house is a huge benefit to the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens we serve.

ALERRT, which stands for Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training, is nationally recognized training that prepares law enforcement officers to respond to active shooter situations and other critical incidents, especially those that may occur in schools. The training focuses on rapid response, teamwork, communication, and life saving tactics to help protect students, teachers, staff, and the public during emergency situations.

Their dedication to training and improving their skills helps ensure our deputies are prepared to respond when our schools and community need them most. We are proud of both of these men and appreciate their hard work and commitment to public safety.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association for their generous donation of equipment to our agency. Through their support, the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office received 10 flashlights and 10 traffic safety vests for deputies to use while serving the citizens of Cleburne County.

This equipment will play an important role in helping improve the safety of our deputies while they are performing their daily duties throughout the county. Deputies frequently work traffic accidents, disabled vehicles, emergency scenes, and roadside calls during both daytime and nighttime hours. The traffic safety vests will help ensure deputies are more visible to passing motorists, especially during nighttime operations, severe weather, or low-light conditions. Increased visibility can significantly reduce the chances of deputies being struck by passing vehicles while working on the side of the roadway.

The donated flashlights will also provide deputies with dependable equipment while responding to calls for service after dark. Deputies routinely use flashlights during searches, building checks, suspicious activity calls, vehicle searches, power outages, and emergency situations where visibility may be limited. Having reliable lighting equipment allows deputies to safely assess situations, identify potential dangers, and better protect both themselves and the public.

As a smaller agency covering approximately 595 square miles, our deputies often respond to calls in rural areas where lighting is limited. Equipment such as this helps provide deputies with additional tools needed to safely and effectively carry out their duties while continuing to provide quality service to the community.

Sheriff Jon Daniel and the staff of the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office are extremely grateful for the continued support shown by the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Donations like these directly benefit the deputies working in the field each day and demonstrate the importance of supporting law enforcement agencies, especially in rural communities. The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the Association’s commitment to officer safety and their continued investment in agencies across the country.

The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office wants to make the public aware of a scam circulating by text message.

Citizens are receiving messages with what appears to be an official court notice for unpaid traffic violations, demanding immediate payment.

This is a scam. Courts do not send notices or request payment through text messages, links, or QR codes.

Do not click any links, scan codes, or send money. Delete the message and report it.
