Cleburne County will go under a Flood Watch this afternoon at 4 pm and will go until 7 am Thursday.

Heavy rain is possible — be prepared in case flooding develops:
• 🌧️ Monitor weather alerts and local updates
• 🛑 Avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas
• 🚗 Do not drive through water-covered roads
• 📦 Move valuables to higher ground if needed
• 📱 Keep your phone charged and emergency kit ready

If you encounter flooding, remember:

⚠️UPDATED Severe Weather Forecast Update for Wednesday Night through Early Thursday Morning as of 1:55pm Tuesday:

🚨Level 3 of 5 Risk is now in the forecast for locations roughly along the I-20/59 corridor. The Enhanced Risk was included for an increased chance for tornadoes, along with large hail and damaging winds. A level 1 to 2 out of 5 risk remains elsewhere across Central Alabama.

OVERNIGHT EVENT: We're expecting the chance for severe storms to begin as early as 6pm, with multiple rounds of storms moving from west to east through the overnight hours as a cold front slowly moves south across the area. Have your severe weather plan ready, and have multiple ways to recieve warnings - most importantly have something that can wake you up such as a NOAA Weather Radio, smartphone app, and make sure Wireless Emergency Alerts are ON. We'll keep you updated with the latest!

There is a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon into Wednesday morning across most of Central Alabama. Hazards include damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size, and brief tornadoes.

Please be advised that on Interstate 20 at the 205 mm east bound on ramp will be closed this evening to be paved, once complete workers will move to the west bound ramp for work to be completed on that side. Construction begins at 7 pm and will last until 7 am.

Statewide Fire Danger is HIGH today!
The Northern half of the state is classified as a High Fire Danger, while the Southern half has increased to a Very High Fire Danger classification.

We continue to urge everyone to avoid outdoor burning as we remain in drought conditions.

For clarity - this is not a ban on outdoor burning. This is a public notice to increase awareness of the drought conditions. As always, if you are burning over a .25 of an acre, you must obtain a burn permit from AFC's dispatch center.
