I am sadden to hear of the passing of Mayor Robert Rigby. I enjoyed serving with him for 8 years. He was instrumental in many accomplishments for the City of Heflin including the Rec. center, annexation of the 205 Exit, the development of the new cemetery, high mass lighting, as well as many others. It was a privilege to know and to serve with him.

Glad to see work has started on new roof at recreation center. I am a supporter of maintenance on our facilities and infrastructure.

Today I attended a course entitled Building Community hosted by the Economic Development Association of Alabama. I learned we are doing a lot of things right regarding development of of Physical, Human and Civic Infrastructure of our community.
Heflin was singled out as an example of a small community doing the right things to facilitate economic vitality.. Our community ranks near the top of small counties (under 25,000.00) in measures of economic vitality for the state of Alabama. This is a reflection of the hard work of our economic development team and the many volunteers which make our community great.

The swearing in ceremony for the new City Council will be on Monday, November 7th at 11:00AM on the courthouse lawn.

A reception will follow in Ross Park immediately following.
Everyone is invited to attend. We would like to offer a special invite to past council members and mayors as we would like to recognize those that have served our great city!
