As Mayor, I plan to work towards a Strategic Asset Plan with a modern money management core. This will pivot us in a new direction.
I will work with the clerk and treasurer to push for implementation of digital record keeping. I want us to have the most efficient systems for tracking cash flow and other financial transactions to help manage record keeping.
Modern money management for Helena-West Helena would foster proactive instead of reactive spending.

Maxine Miller for Mayor 2026

These are the priorities I will take to the mayor’s office.
I will prioritize investment in our landfill, so revenue can grow without additional fees from our citizens. I will prioritize day-to-day money management, so we maximize the resources we already have. I will prioritize communication with the city council and other elected officials, so we have a better working relationship. I will prioritize mental health services that work with existing providers.

Accountability starts with the mayor. The mayor must be accountable to the people they serve, and then that accountability has to run through City Hall. That means an updated accounting system, and a fixed asset system so property bought with taxpayer funds is tracked properly.

As a City Councilman, I have asked for inventory reports from several departments several times. The reason centered on accountability not curiosity.
Taxpayers want to know where the money is spent. Making unnecessary purchases sends the wrong message to citizens.
I will, in the first 30 days, require all departments to submit their inventory reports.
This is a necessary yearly goal that is simple to fix. The Legislative audit should not have to cite us for this.

As the chief executive of a city, the Mayor is legally and ethically responsible for safe guarding public funds. Period.
As your Mayor, I plan to make sure the City of Helena-West Helena is in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
I want to make it easier for citizens to view the city budget, real-time expenditures and contracts.
