The ranunculus were gorgeous. Missouri took that personally. 🌪️🥀

A few days ago these flowers were destined for bouquets. Then came the wind, the rain, and a reminder that gardening doesn’t always go according to plan.

Today was spent cutting out storm-damaged blooms and hauling them to the compost pile. It’s not the glamorous side of flower farming, but it’s part of the process.

The good news? The plants are still growing, there are still buds coming, and tomorrow is another chance to start again.

That’s the thing about gardening. You celebrate the blooms, learn from the losses, and keep planting anyway. 💚🌸

Broken dahlia tuber.
Greenhouse screen blown out.
Years of saved seeds soaked.
Flowers flattened.
Solar light broken.
Grill relocated.

Still not giving up. 💚

Building a little herb garden today! 🌿

I planted Italian oregano, rosemary, cilantro, and finished with basil. Of course they’ll end up in plenty of meals this summer, but some herbs do double duty and make beautiful bouquet fillers too. 💐

One of my favorite things about growing flowers and food together is finding plants that are both useful and beautiful. Now let’s see if I can keep the cilantro happy once Missouri summer arrives. 😅🌿

We moved to Missouri and apparently Memorial Day Weekend means crowded pools, floating bars, boats the size of small neighborhoods, and keeping one eye on the radar at all times. 🌊⛈️

We got off the water just before the storm rolled in, which felt like a win. Welcome to Lake of the Ozarks summer season… where the party starts at noon and Mother Nature ends it whenever she feels like it. 😅

The ranunculus are finally coming on strong! ❤️🤍

These red and white beauties are just about ready to cut, and I’ve already started filling jars and storing them in the cooler. Memorial Day bouquets are coming next, and I couldn’t be more excited to start sharing these blooms with others.

Just days after getting the dahlia tubers in the ground, we were hit with over 3 inches of rain. I was honestly a little nervous, but seeing those first green shoots popping up feels like a huge win. 🌱

Sometimes gardening is just equal parts planning, patience, and hoping Mother Nature cooperates. Here’s to another season of blooms. 🌸

Coffee was brewing, I looked out the window… and instantly knew something was wrong with the pond. 😳

Turns out the little upper spillway must have shifted and was leaking water off the side instead of back into the pond. Cue the pajama-to-garden emergency sprint. 😂

Got the pond filled back up, fed the fish, and honestly… the bonus was finally being able to SEE them again because the water cleared up so nicely. 🐟✨

The glamorous side of pond ownership nobody talks about.
