ServeMontana

ServeMontana ServeMontana is a State Service Commission. We are committed to national service and volunteerism.

The Governor’s Office of Community Service and the Governor-appointed Montana Commission on Community Service were created in 1993 to promote and expand national service and volunteer opportunities in Montana. Also known as ServeMontana, the Governor's Office of Community Service administers federal funding to AmeriCorps State programs in Montana. The federal funding is provided by AmeriCorps, the

agency, an independent federal agency. We also provides a comprehensive array of technical assistance and support to national service programs and organizations that engage community volunteers throughout Montana.

Olivia Pfeil started her AmeriCorps term in January with AgCorps in Columbia Falls at Land to Hand. During her service she has visited multiple schools where she has provided hands-on environmental education lessons. Many students in these lessons have left a lasting impression on her.

Recently, she found it inspiring to see the 8th graders focus and work as a team while they made Beet Hummus. Nearly 300 samples were given out throughout the Columbia Falls School district from their efforts. She has now provided environmental stewardship education to over 430 students! She also assists the Junior High Garden club and is impressed with their adoration for the natural world.

She said, “The principle of respect for all living things is very apparent amongst the kids who engage with our programming.” Olivia’s dedication to building the capacity of Land to Hand while also educating students and youth on environmentally conscious practices is admirable.

Memorial Day originated in the aftermath of the Civil War, as communities started the tradition of adorning the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags.
This national holiday is dedicated to honor and remember the courageous men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country and our freedom.

Today, let us come together to recognize these individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Welcome and thank you, Ruby for the great work you have done so far at Greater Impact. We look forward to seeing all you will be able to accomplish during your term of service!

Hi! My name is Ruby and I am an AmeriCorps Member serving at Greater Impact- a Bozeman nonprofit that supports addiction recovery. So far, I’ve spearheaded a new art program for women in addiction recovery to be able to express themselves in a different way and to learn healthier coping skills. I’ve also created prototype wellness kits to give out to women in need that have harm reduction, hygiene, and safety items inside. I can’t wait to see what else I can accomplish in the rest of my term! I chose to serve with AmeriCorps because I had felt I needed to do something drastically different than what I was doing. I was at an impasse in my life, that the direction I was going in wasn’t sitting right with me anymore. I needed something different, something more fulfilling. Instead of dreading work, I now look forward to it every day. My heart is full that I can learn and give back to the community. This is not a dead-end, mundane 9-5; this is the first step in a new chapter in your life!

We are officially recruiting for our next Community Health Corps of Montana (CHCM) cohort. If you’re looking for a way to give back to Montana communities and grow personally and professionally, we want to hear from you. Apply today!

Thank you Ethan for choosing to serve in Montana. We are excited that you’ve already gained so much value from your service!

My name is Ethan and I am an AmeriCorps member serving through the Montana Office of Rural Health and Area Health Education Center. So far in my service I have had the privilege of helping on the Senior & Long-Term Care Assessment: Tribal Listening Sessions, help recruit for the next CHCM cohort, and am updating the Social Determinants of Health MORH/AHEC course, etc. Through this, I’ve also been fortunate enough to travel and experience the beautiful state of Montana! Not even half way through my service term, already being a part of this office and this program, it has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

We are officially recruiting for our next Community Health Corps of Montana (CHCM) cohort. If you’re looking for a way to give back to Montana communities and grow personally and professionally, we want to hear from you. Service matters. Apply today!
