Some good ideas for younger elementary students!

Hello friends! We hope you are doing well in these difficult and uncertain times. To bring us all some cheer, we’re going to be bringing you more weekly posts! Today for , we are lucky because it fabulously coincides with World Bear Day!

Here at ZooMontana, you already know about our Grizzly Bears (also called Brown Bears) Bruno and Ozzie. Did you know there are actually eight different species of bears across the world? From the impressive Polar Bears, the cute Sloth Bears, to the nearly entirely herbivorous Giant Pandas, bears live in many different habitats and are quite a diverse group! Some, like the Sun Bear and the Spectacled Bear, live in tropical rain forests, while the others, including American and Asiatic Black Bears, live in mountainous forests or dry grasslands. Wherever they live, most bear species are great climbers, omnivorous, and impressive and adorable to behold.

Today, we encourage you to choose one or more of the bear species of the world to get to know more closely. While maybe not as cuddly as your teddy bear, they are still cute and amazing! Do a bear craft (or the coloring page in our previous post today- there are also tons of free and amazing coloring sheets at http://www.supercoloring.com/), read a book (“A Book of Bears: At Home with Bears Around the World” by Katie Viggers is super cute!), watch an awesome video (PBS Eons - https://www.pbs.org/show/eons/ - has tons of free and short videos on all sorts of topics pertaining to the history of life on earth, including one in season 2 about the origins of the Giant Pandas), and get to know more about the wonderful animals of our world!

Let us know in the comments what you’re learning about while at home, any questions you have, and other topics you want to know about!
