But most importantly, we have been helping our neighbors. From flood relief in Ellensburg in 1948 to Mt. The Washington National Guard has responded to help its fellow neighbors of Washington State. Washington Army National Guard members continue to be a vital part of domestic response to emergencies and natural disasters. The Washington Army National Guard was there in 2005 as a result of nat-guard-katrina-small.jpgHurricanes Katrina and Rita, where over 750 Washington Guard pilots, mechanics, supply and admin specialists, truck drivers and many others supported humanitarian relief efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Again in 2007, nearly 500 Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen served on state active duty in the aftermath of the December 2 Winter Storms and subsequent flooding in Southwest Washington focused on evacuating stranded residents and transportation of vital supplies and equipment. And again in 2009, where over 550 Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen responded statewide to battle snow and flooding. The Washington Army National Guard does whatever is needed, wherever it is needed. As a Guard Soldier, your primary area of operation is your home state. Any governor or the president himself can call on the Guard at a moment’s notice. Our versatility enables us to respond to domestic emergencies, overseas combat missions, counterdrug efforts, reconstruction missions and more. The Guard always responds with speed, strength and efficiency helping to defend American freedom and ideals. This is what makes the National Guard a unique and essential element of the U.S. military.

The first 100 eligible people to learn about the Montana Army National Guard (MTARNG) by sitting in or conducting a virtual appointment with a MTARNG recruiter will be registered to win a laptop with a value up to $1000. The registration will be closed once the first 100 initial appointments have been conducted and verified. One hundred registered entrants are required to award the prize up to $1000.
