Livestock Loss Board Livestock We provide payments for cattle, sheep, horses, mules, goats, llamas, swine and guard animals killed by wolves.

A loss must be categorized as a confirmed or probable loss by USDA Wildlife Services before a payment is made.

Grants Available to Montana Livestock Producers!

The Montana Livestock Loss Board is accepting grants to prevent livestock depredation from wolves, grizzly bears, black bears and mountain lions. Applications due January 30th 2026. Please contact us or visit our website (www.llb.mt.gov) for details!

This year it must be printed out and is not fillable online. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on May 31st. Our only staff person is out on medical leave but he will be able to answer questions after May 8th at [email protected] or 406-444-5609. People who need an application mailed to them may contact Brian Simonson at [email protected] or 406-444-4994. Applications will be reviewed by our grant committee early in June and our plans are to hold a full board meeting towards the end of June. A date for this meeting has not been set yet.
