🎒✏️ Welcome back to a brand-new school year from your Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers!

The hallways are buzzing, backpacks are packed, and we are excited to be back on campus connecting with students, staff, and families.

For those new to our school community, being an SRO is about much more than wearing a badge. We wear three important hats:

👮 Law Enforcement Officer
We help keep our schools safe and secure so students can focus on learning and growing.

📚 Educator
Throughout the year, we visit classrooms as guest speakers and teach law-related topics and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) lessons.

🤝 Mentor
One of the best parts of our job is building positive relationships. Whether you need advice, encouragement, or simply someone to listen, we are here for you.

We are looking forward to a safe, successful, and fun school year. If you see us in the halls, stop and say hello! 👋

In consultation with the Lewis And Clark rural Fire council and associated member , I am not opening burning until conditions improve.

Initially, it was set to open September 1. However, with the current weather conditions and dry grass, debris burning will remain closed. Debris burning is material that is organic. This is not any restrictions on recreational fires.
Leo C. Dutton, Sheriff/Coroner/Fire Warden.

Tip-A-Cop for Special Olympics Montana

What a great day for a great cause! 👮‍♂️🍕💙

Yesterday, members of the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office, Helena Montana Police Department, Federal Reserve Police, and East Helena Police Department teamed up at McKenzie River Pizza for a Tip-A-Cop event benefiting Special Olympics Montana! 🏅

Our law enforcement officers traded their usual duties for serving tables, visiting with the community, and helping raise money for an incredible organization that provides opportunities for athletes of all abilities.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, enjoyed some pizza, tipped our officers, and supported Special Olympics. Your generosity makes a difference! ❤️

And of course, thank you to McKenzie River Pizza for hosting us and helping make the event a success!

👮‍♂️ Four agencies. One community. One great cause.

Over the past year, we have been fortunate to hire 23 additional Detention Officers. This accomplishment is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our staff at the Detention Center and the County Human Resources Department. To support these hiring efforts, we held several Saturday hiring events, which proved to be very successful in attracting qualified applicants and increasing the number of completed applications.
Working in partnership with the pretrial program, we have been able to reduce the Detention Center inmate numbers and the overcrowding issue. We appreciate all the good work that has been accomplished working together.
If you are interested in applying for a Detention Officer position, please contact Dawson at the Detention Center 406-457-8857
