Canvas Cybersecurity Monitoring Statement

Helendale School District is aware of the recent cybersecurity incident involving Canvas/Instructure that has affected a number of educational institutions. At this time, Helendale School District has not received confirmation that district student or staff data was involved, and our district does not appear on the current list of affected institutions that we are aware of.

Our Technology Department has reviewed the available information, is continuing to monitor the situation, and has followed up through the appropriate channels. We take student data privacy and cybersecurity seriously, and we will continue working with district leadership and vendors to protect student, staff, and family information.

As a precaution, families and staff should remain alert for suspicious emails, unexpected login requests, or messages asking for personal information. If new verified information becomes available that affects our district community, we will provide an update.

Please join us in celebrating Mr. Dokie as Helendale Elementary School’s March Certificated Employee of the Month. Since arriving last year, he has made a profound impact through his exemplary science instruction and dedication to student learning. We are also proud to share that he has been recognized as the MEEC Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Dokie creates a classroom environment where students are challenged academically while also developing important life skills. Through innovative, hands-on programs such as the Hawk Drone Program, Botany Program, Ecosystem Project, STEM Expo Family Night, and the Devil’s Punchbowl Field Study Experience, students engage in meaningful, real world learning.

His passion for education, commitment to student success, and ability to inspire curiosity make him a valued colleague and a positive influence on our entire school community. Congratulations, Mr. Dokie, and thank you for all that you do for Helendale Elementary School.

Please join us in celebrating Ms. Martini as Helendale Elementary School’s March Classified Employee of the Month.

Ms. Martini consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that our staff and students have everything they need to be successful. Her dedication to our school community is evident in the care and compassion she shows each day. She takes great pride in her work and works tirelessly to make sure classrooms are supported and well supplied.

Ms. Martini has a special way of connecting with students, especially those who may be having a difficult day. She welcomes them with a smile, offers encouragement, and provides the care and reassurance they need to start their day on a positive note. Her ability to build trusting relationships with students truly makes a difference.

In addition, Ms. Martini is always attentive to the needs of our staff, ensuring that administration is aware when additional support may be needed in the classroom. Her commitment to supporting students, staff, and families reflects the heart of our school community.
