Hemet Fire Department The City’s current policy is to automatically remove comments from our page due to limited staffing resources.

The Hemet Chamber of Commerce formed the Hemet Fire Department on July 29, 1908. The newly formed department consisted of 12 volunteers, a 2-wheel hose cart, nozzles, buckets, axes, 2 fire extinguishers, and a 30-foot extension ladder. The first fire station was on the northwest corner of Front Street and Florida Avenue, now part of State Street. Chief History
In 1976 the volunteers were disbande

d and all city firefighters were paid professionals. This time period also saw changes in fire chiefs. Hemet’s fire chiefs have included:

Richard Feuerstein (1979-1981)
Lyle Alberg/Acting Fire Chief (1981-1985)
William Dahlquist and Barney Phillips (1985-1997)
Richard Stacey (1997-2004)
Robert Verburg (2004-2007)
Mel Enslow/Acting Fire Chief (2007-2008)
Matt Shobert (2008-2011)
William Whelan (2011-2012)
Joe Morris (2012-2013)
Primo Reynoso/Acting Fire Chief (2013-2014)
Peter Bryan/Interim Fire Chief (2014-2014)
Scott Brown (2015 -present)
