The Hemingway Police Department has received reports of phone calls being made to local residents claiming that you have an active warrant and must pay money over the phone to avoid arrest or other consequences.

THIS IS A SCAM.
These calls are NOT from the Hemingway Police Department or any legitimate law enforcement agency.

Law enforcement will NEVER:
* Call you to demand payment
* Request banking information
* Threaten arrest over the phone.

❗ Never give personal or financial information to anyone who calls you claiming you owe money or threatening legal action.

Please take a moment to inform elderly family members, friends, and neighbors, as they are often targeted by these scams. Help us spread the word to keep our community safe.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and report it to your local police department.

On November 26, 2025, the Hemingway Police Department, assisted by the Williamsburg County Sheriff's office, made an arrest in connection with the October 30, 2025, armed robbery at the exotic v**e store located at 304 South Main Street in Hemingway, and taken into custody was Kyjuan E. Palmer. Palmer has been booked into the Williamsburg County Detention Center and is facing charges of armed robbery and use of a weapon during a violent crime.

UPDATE: Investigators are pleased to report that Camden Mathis has been located.

FCSO Investigators need your help to locate a missing Florence County teenager. Camden Andrew Mathis, age 14, was last seen earlier today (11/19/2025) in the area of 4208 Millhouse Road, Johnsonville, SC. He was possibly headed in the direction of Plantation Road in Johnsonville.

Camden was last seen wearing an orange T shirt, khaki pants and brown Timberland boots.
He is described as standing approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 125 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. See attached photograph.

Anyone with knowledge or information regarding the whereabouts of Camden is asked to contact FCSO Investigators at (843) 665-2121, ext. 80173 or “Submit-A-Tip” on the free FCSO app for IPhone or Android devices. You do not have to reveal your identity to leave information. You can also leave information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers of the P*e Dee at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Your tip could earn you a cash reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of individuals involved in a crime.

Hemingway Police Department is seeking information / help from the public in this armed robbery case. This incident occurred on October 30, 2025 at the V**e store located in the Food Lion plaza. The vehicle in the photo is what the suspect was driving, the video once he entered the store.

If anyone have any information with case please call the Hemingway Police Department at 843-558-2424 or 843-933-1025. All callers can be remain anonymous.
