Due to a potential traffic congestion issue on 9-1-21 during school drop off effecting KC Ling Elementary in the morning. Richland Township Police along with Hemlock Public Schools and Bus transportation have decided on the best solution to avoid delays, hazards or increased congestion. We are asking that all traffic on N Pine St between the hours of 7am and 8am to use the service drive on the north side of Pine to enter into KC Ling and to exit from KC Ling to the right onto N Pine St heading towards Wilson St. N Pine St will be down to one lane traffic between the KC Ling entrance and the bus loop entrance between the hours of 7am and 8am. We all understand the inconvenience this poses to all the parents dropping off at KC Ling and thank everyone for their cooperation in this matter. Again N. Pine St will be closed to northbound traffic between the bus loop entrance and the entrance to KC Ling Elementary between the hours of 7am and 8am.

The road conditions are very slippery out. Please stay home if at all possible, if you must travel please take your time and allow for room to stop as the beautiful Michigan weather continues to give us icy roads. Saginaw County Road Commission and MDOT are out with their plow trucks salting the roads, however it is a slow process with the amount of roads that need to be taken care so please be patient.

It has been brought to our attention that there are two posts circulating on Facebook that seem to be referring to incidents in Richland Township.

The first incident involves a female being approached by three males while on a jog. This incident occurred in Midland County around the Laporte Rd and Poseyville rd area. At this time nothing reference this incident has been reported to us.

The second incident involves an attempted child abduction at the park. There was NO ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION at the park. Officers responded to the park to identify a suspicious subject. The subject in question is a local resident and we are working with the family on the matter.

We strongly encourage people to contact us if there are any situations going on for confirmation before starting posts on Social Media. Often times these posts do more harm for a community than good and can be cleared up before rumors start circulating.

There has been talk on social media about Governor Whitmer activating the National Guard to invoke Martial Law. Please rest assured there is absolutely no talk of Martial Law through official channels. She has in fact asked President Trump to release funds for the National Guard to assist in distribution of food and medical supplies. Talk of Martial Law on social media just adds to hysteria of this COVID-19 pandemic.

Everywhere we look, we see people abiding by the guidelines and laws governing this event. Keep up the good work and hopefully this will pass as soon as safely possible.

Family Emergency Scams

Scammers are becoming more and more convincing. Please take time to have conversations with your loved ones, especially the elderly because they tend to be the main target, about these scams. One of the top scams right now is a family emergency scam. The scammer will call and pretend to be a family member. It has been reported that these subjects are very convincing in impersonating a family member. Here is a helpful link to share about these scams.

SCAM ALERT:

There has been a rise in complaints about people getting contacted saying they owe money to the IRS or that their "grandchild is in jail". DO NOT give these people any personal information. Unfortunately a lot of the time they are using spoof phone numbers that may look like they should be legit.

Please talk to your loved ones about these scams and make sure they know not to give out any information. Unfortunately a lot of the time these people target the elderly community. These people are normally pretty convincing and seem to know a lot of personal information. They ARE NOT legitimate.

If you get one of these phone calls and are unsure if it is legitimate or not please contact the police department before giving out any information.

05/31/2019

We urge everyone to take the time to teach their loved ones on the dangers of believing the scam phone calls they recieve. Teach them that these scam artists can be very convincing in their efforts to take our hard earned money. Teach them to call police or a trusted friend or family member after receiving one of these calls, prior to giving any information to the callers. Teach them that it is never ok to give their bank account information over the phone. Please take the time to teach them before they get scammed

UPDATE FOR SANDRIDGE NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS: There is NO access to the neighborhood from the park. Do NOT use the park to cut through. This is a safety concern and has since been shut down.

We understand that the construction in town is frustrating. It does not however allow you to drive in a manner that is unsafe. Our residential streets are posted 25mph zones. Speed limits around town will be enforced.

Hemlock Rd is closed at this time. The only vehicles traveling around the high school should have business at the high school. All other vehicles need to follow the detour.

At this time residents who live in the Sandridge neighborhood only have access from the south (Gratiot Rd). We will try to update this when that changes.

It is never acceptable to use the grass to bypass road closed signs. It is also unacceptable to "jump" the curbs to get around the road closed signs. These violations will receive citations.

Please remember you are not the only one being inconvenienced and that is not an acceptable reason to disregard traffic laws. Please drive safe.
