A message from Chief Ebbers:

“We would like to thank everyone for the love and support over this past year and years past. 2020 has been a tiring year for many but this year should serve as a reminder of the blessings we truly have. During my time at Rolling Hills I strived to provide the best services and recruit the best talent to serve the citizens of the community and Waller-Harris Emergency Service District #200. The needs of the community were always put first, as well as they should always be. The genuine commitment to serve others was seen in every heart of our members and their dedication through their own personal advancements did not go unnoticed. Assistant Chief Mathes and I are very proud of those who dedicated so much to Rolling Hills VFD. And to the community, thank you for allowing all of us to serve you. YOU are the reason for everything we do. Gandhi said, ‘the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.’ Thank you for allowing all of us to truly find ourselves this year. I wish the new Rolling Hills command staff, board and volunteers the best as they continue to serve this wonderful community. On behalf of our volunteers and the 2020 command staff, I wish everyone a very safe and Happy New Year!”

Part 2 of rescue lift bag and cribbing training tonight at RHVFD! We staged a “victim” pinned under two different vehicles and our firefighters worked as a team to raise the vehicles enough to free the trapped victim. No worries to those that drove by seeing our emergency lights, it was only training!

Our firefighters did a great job communicating and coordinating the rescue effort.

What a beautiful weekend to train! RHVFD attended extrication training Saturday and was able to practice with many different extrication tools including many Milwaukee tools that a representative graciously brought out for us to try!

FF C. Brandon, FF/EMR A. Garcia and Captain C. Mathes were able to practice their skills and learn new skills utilizing different tools and techniques.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Instructor Mark Rodriguez, Prairie View Volunteer Fire Department and Brookshire for the invitation to train. We are always grateful for any opportunity to train!

RHVFD Firefighters trained on our Paratech air lifting bags. The goal was to utilize cribbing and the lifting bags to lift the table off of the ground while being careful to not spill the top cup which was balanced and filled with water. Two teams were competing for the fastest time to complete the highest lift without spilling the cup of water. This drill provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the dynamics of a rescue and to discuss different ways to utilize the lifting bags and cribbing during an emergency call. Communication and coordination is also key to a successful rescue!
