Please keep our Waller County family in your prayers as we mourn the loss of longtime former county employee Dena Nolan. Dena was with the County Clerks office when I started as Election Administrator as a baby. I will always cherish her kindness and helpful nature.

WALLER COUNTY/PVAMU 2ND DOSE CLINIC UNDERWAY THIS MORNING

The Waller County PVAMU 2nd dose clinic is underway. The early morning line is long right now so pack a little patience.

It really helps facilitate everything if you bring the printout of your code and the consent form with you already completed

The consent form can be found here at:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nYeaaBSO05Yk47phu6ZtjieulCDrYNoJ/view

The biggest thing that is slowing things down right now is if people do not have the consent form with them. Everyone should have received an email with their confirmation code for their second dose and a link to the consent form. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam filters to make sure it did not get filtered. The email came from Access Health.

If you did not receive an confirmation email in regards to your second dose appointment, if you bring your vaccine card with you, they can check you in with that as well.

Today is second doses for Individuals that received their first vaccination dose on February 4-5th at PVAMU Lot 96 in Prairie view Texas.

These are scheduled appointment times. Please come at your scheduled time. This will help substantially with the wait.

Happy Birthday to Texas!!

COUNTY INFRASTRUCTURE

Well... like many of you.r homes. County buildings are just as susceptible to these extreme temperatures...

The County has sustained extensive damage in the majority of its facilities across the County.

The Brookshire library had broken pipes and major water damage throughout, with the ceiling collapsing in several places.

The Pct 4 Annex water well is damaged. All of the other JP offices have either broken pipes and/or water well damage.

The Courthouse has sustained broken pipes and our primary generator is now down needing major repairs. There is currently no heat in the building.

We are still evaluating other county buildings.

County offices will be closed through Friday except for essential employees.

We will try to conduct Commissioners Court on Friday but with no heat and electricity that goes off and on, I would not recommend anyone come to the courthouse unless you want to wear a heavy coat inside.

Hopefully by next week we will have most of our facilities repaired and back up and running. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we deal with these repairs.

WALLER COUNTY COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE 2-3-21 (11 am)

Waller County OEM and EMC Brian Cantrell are busy today working with PVAMU PD and officials to set up the Drive thru clinic at Lot 96 at PVAMU, which will be held tomorrow and Friday. Most of the remaining slots are going to be filled today and additional appointment emails will be going out shortly. To date, we have received just over 2000 registrations. HOWEVER, if you have not yet registered, we are still taking registrations. Do not be deterred by the fact that you may not get into this specific clinic

Why are we will still taking registrations? If you have been following my posts, you may recall that I explained that we were opening registration for 3,000 registrants to receive a vaccine. With only 1000 doses to distribute, not everyone will get a vaccine in this clinic... but here’s why it’s important to still get registered at this point (ESPECIALLY ANYONE OVER 75):

Since yesterday, myself and most of the Waller County Commissioners have been attending the V.G. Young School for County Commissioners Court at the Brazos County Expo in Bryan/College Station. I just personally spoke to TDEM Chief Nim Kidd here at the conference.

He expressed to me that it is absolutely vital to have an active registration list that we can draw from at moments notice if they allocate us additional doses with the expectation that it is distributed within 2-3 days of being received. If you are registered on our list, there is a very good chance that you are less than 2-3 weeks from getting a vaccine, maybe even less. At anytime, the Hub in Washington County could call us as well where they are needing to fill a certain amount of slots, and we have a list for them ready to go. Between PVAMU and the Washington County Hub, if you are registered on our list (even if you are no. 3000) we expect to move that list quickly in the coming days and weeks as additional doses and clinics are held.

Opening up a new registration list each time this happens and the time spent promoting it is not conducive to getting those doses into arms. Not only are we focused on getting the current 1000 doses distributed, but we are also focused on future doses.

We rolled out our registration list Monday evening and it will take thru today to have all 1000 doses spoken for. We can not afford to use 3 days in the next cycle for another registration. We need an active registration list large enough to get us through 3000 doses, even if those doses are only allocated 1000 at a time.

We want to have a system where if we find out on Friday that we are getting vaccine on Monday then by Tuesday we are getting people vaccinated. That’s is why we have the system in place that we have.

And to be honest with you, that is why it’s much better to do vaccinations through these hubs than thru smaller locations. Most of those smaller providers are not ideally set up to handle the response we’ve seen where a local pharmacy gets 300 doses then receives 3,000 phone calls (while they also have to do their normal daily tasks as well). We are. The Washington County hub vaccinated 4300 people yesterday. When you have that kind of efficiency, you don’t need to burden your local pharmacies with that duty.

So, with all of that in mind, if you meet Categories 1A or 1B (and especially those over 65 and ESPECIALLY those over 75), please register if you have not done so already. Please review my prior posts for the definitions of 1A and 1B. PLEASE SHARE this information with anyone you know that needs a vaccine, especially any elderly individuals. Keep in mind you can not share this post from a closed or private group but you can do so directly from my County Judge FB page or the WC Fire Marshal & Office of Emergency Management FB page. I strongly encourage anyone over 75 to get registered because according to Chief Kidd, we may also prioritize for those individuals as well, which means those Individuals could be moved up the list at any time.

COVID-19 VACCINE UPDATE 1-26-21

***UPDATE AS OF 5:01 PM -

I just received the following information from Judge Lina Hidalgo of Harris County:

The site had to be taken down a few times today for security reasons, we've received a lot of hits including perhaps nefarious efforts to bombard the site. It'll be up asap, I'll text you as soon as I'm told it's back up.

That said, the new system is a randomized system and not first come first serve so even if folks register tomorrow or in the next days/weeks they'll have a fair shot at being selected for an appointment. In theory, the link never closes and each time we receive a shipment (weekly), we pull individuals at random for the following week's appointments, with 1A prioritized over 1B and older prioritized over younger. More info here:

https://publichealth.harriscountytx.gov/Resources/2019-Novel-Coronavirus/Register-for-COVID-19-Vaccine

***UPDATE AS OF 4:55 PM - WE ARE AWARE THAT THE LINK NOW DISPLAYS THE MESSAGE "SITE UNDER MAINTENANCE". WE ARE CHECKING INTO THIS. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS CLINIC IS BEING HELD BY THE HARRIS COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. IT IS POSSIBLE THE SLOTS HAVE FILLED ALREADY***

Below is information for a Vaccine Clinic that will be held starting TOMORROW JAN. 26 THRU THURSDAY JAN. 27 at WALLER ISD STADIUM. The clinic is being held by the Harris County Health Department. The registration link can be found below. The he following information was provided to us by Waller ISD. Thank you Sarah Marcus and Superintendent Kevin Moran for being great partners with the Waller County OEM.
https://vacstrac.hctx.net/landing

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to be held at Waller ISD Stadium this week. The dates have changed to Jan. 27-30 (8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily).

This clinic is for any QUALIFYING individual age 18+ in Phases 1A or 1B. Please understand that this is a massive operation and HCPH is working diligently to take care of all qualifying candidates who want to receive the vaccine. WISD is a vaccination site, but registration and distribution of the vaccine is led by HCPH.

We are still working on a vaccination clinic to be held next week by Waller County in partnership with PVAMU and the city of Prairie View. More information to follow on that.

But for now, this is the closest vaccination hub. It is our understanding that they will be adminstering up to 800 doses per day at this location.
