On August 27th, OMA was joined by Deputy County Executive Anissa Moore to present Debra Sisek with a citation and commendation on behalf of County Executive Bruce Blakeman for her contributions to our local business community and her efforts to promote diversity here in Nassau County. Debra is the proud owner of Global Glam, a clothing shop carrying Afrocentric styles and Ankara prints for men, women, and children. With products and goods sourced in Africa, shoppers can enjoy vibrant colors and bold designs to suit their clothing and accessory needs.

A former educator and artist, Debra noticed a need and growing market for African styles and variety here on Long Island and was happy to fill the space. Now with over a year in the business, Global Glam touts a wide selection perfect for church events, cultural celebrations, and festive occasions.

We encourage all those interested to pay her a visit at the Tri-County Bazaar in Levittown and see her impressive selection for yourselves!

💼 Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders! 🚀

A special thanks to Senator Steve Rhoads for the recognition and opportunity to enrich the youth and promising leaders of tomorrow!

OMA's very own head of Workforce Development Runnie Myles was thrilled to have Senator Rhoads' legislative interns participate in our Resume Building & LinkedIn workshop. This collaboration presented these promising youths with hands-on experience and insight to help them put their best foot forward as they prepare for future educational and career opportunities. It is very important that we help our gifted youngsters in the pursuit of their careers and the cultivation of their online presence!

Mr. Myles was of course also joined by OMA's Executive Director Lionel Chitty, as well as the honorable Deputy County Executive Anissa Moore. The entire OMA team is very passionate about helping ensure a brighter tomorrow and empowering the young leaders of today!

Held in collaboration with SRLC-USA Long Island, OMA will be having a Back-to-School Giveaway for families at the Roosevelt PAL Center on Sunday, August 30TH! All goods will be on a first-come, first-served basis to those in need. Quantities are limited while supplies last, so please be sure to join us to receive school supply kits and clothing before the new school year begins!

Nassau County will have cooling centers open to help residents stay safe through this extreme heat! Cooling centers opened at 8 AM today & will remain open through end of day tomorrow, 8/7 with possible availability continuing this weekend.
